11 A.M. UPDATE: PG&E Has Restored Power to 328,255 Customers Affected by the Oct. 29 Public Safety Power Shutoff

Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E) confirmed at 10 a.m. that it has restored power to approximately 328,255 customers since the Oct. 29 Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) weather “all clear” was given for most areas at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday. Currently, 36,745 PSPS-impacted customers remain out of power.

Wednesday morning, PG&E crews along with mutual aid workers from other utilities from across the U.S. began safety inspections of de-energized equipment, repair work for any wind-related damage found, and power restoration to customers.

Currently, 143 incidents of damage or other hazards to the electric system have been identified and the number is expected to increase. These types of damages or other hazards could lead to wildfire ignitions if power lines are not de-energized.

Counties Completely Restored

PG&E has achieved 100 percent restoration across all PSPS events in the following counties: Alameda, Alpine, Amador, Butte, Colusa, Contra Costa, Fresno, Glenn, Humboldt, Lake, Madera, Mariposa, Mendocino, Monterey, San Benito, San Joaquin, San Mateo, Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, Siskiyou, Solano, Stanislaus, Tehama, Trinity, Tuolumne and Yolo.

Counties Still to Restore

PG&E crews are working to restore power to customers in the following counties: Calaveras, El Dorado, Kern, Marin, Napa, Nevada, Placer, Plumas, Shasta, Sierra, Sonoma and Yuba. Many of these counties are over 90% restored as of 10:00 a.m. Wednesday.

Kern County Update

PG&E issued a partial weather “all clear” in the northern portion of Kern County yesterday and a full “all clear” this morning (Oct. 31), following continued significant wind activity in the southern part of PG&E’s service area. Inspection and restoration efforts are underway.

Kincade Fire Update

PG&E continues to support first responders, local agencies, CAL FIRE and the communities in the impacted areas of the Kincade Fire. A PG&E command staff has been stood up, with more than 200 PG&E personnel assigned to support the restoration of electricity and gas.

Currently, 1,857 customers are without electric service in the Kincade Fire area, and these customers will remain without service until it is safe to restore their service.

Additionally, PG&E proactively turned off natural gas service for safety to approximately 25,000 customers located within the Kincade Fire areas. More than 500 gas personnel, including mutual assistance from Southern California Gas Company (SoCal Gas) and Southwest Gas, are working to support the gas restoration process in Sonoma County. Service has been restored for approximately 2,350 customers in the Cloverdale at this time.

Please do not attempt to turn your own gas back on. If you are not at home when we arrive to restore your service, please call us at 1-800-743-5000 so we can schedule restoration accordingly.

Inspection Process

Safety patrols and equipment repairs, which take place largely during daylight hours, will continue today (Thursday Oct. 31) for impacted miles of distribution and transmission line. More than 6,300 PG&E personnel and contractors and more than 45 helicopters are deployed and supporting the restoration process. PG&E has also secured mutual assistance of approximately 830 electric workers from other utilities from across the U.S. to help with inspections and repairs.

Community Resource Centers

PG&E will continue to operate Community Resource Centers for affected customers, providing restrooms, bottled water, ice, blankets, food, electronic-device charging and air-conditioned seating for up to 100. Centers will remain open during daylight hours, 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., until power has been restored in those areas. Locations and status of these centers are listed at www.pge.com/pspsupdates.

Emergency Preparedness Tips

PG&E does not currently expect another significant wind event in the next seven days. All customers are encouraged to use this time to restock their emergency kits with supplies that were depleted during the recent power shutoffs. Find preparedness tips at www.safetyactioncenter.pge.com.

Customers are encouraged to update or provide their contact information by calling 1-866-743-6589 if they have not already done so. PG&E will use this information to alert customers through automated calls, texts and emails, when possible, prior to and during, a Public Safety Power Shutoff.
