'Alexa, Call My Nurse.' RCare Nabs Security Solutions Award for Alexa Integration

WEBSTER, N.Y., Nov. 4, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- RCare, Inc., maker of nurse call and monitoring solutions, announced today that they have been selected as the winner of the 2019 Security Solutions Award for their nurse call offerings and their recent integration with Alexa.

RCare is the global provider of wired and wireless nurse call solutions for senior housing. RCare saw an opportunity to lead nurse call technologies by integrating voice commands into their fully-featured platform. RCare's voice commands can be used to request help, to cancel help requests, and to perform daily check-ins. They can even be used by caregivers to request back-up support. If there is no push button within reach or if a resident is having trouble accessing a button, a simple voice command can be used.

The annual Security Solutions Awards program isn't a typical awards program, but instead measures how the devices actually perform in real-life field deployments. Entries are judged on various aspects including application, innovation, functionality, value, comparative and competitive advantages, installation benefits, and more.

"Manufacturers claim their products are the 'best,' 'first of its kind,' 'revolutionary,' 'game-changing' and other such hyperbole. However, the real test ? especially when dealing in the sometimes life or death realm of security and safety ? is how those solutions truly meet the needs of both the security integrator and their customer. That is the true litmus test and why SSI founded the Security Solutions Awards," said SSI Associate Publisher Scott Goldfine.

RCare's nurse call solutions offer numerous ways for senior housing residents to remain safer and more comfortable, including accessible pendants and pull cords, sound-free wander management, door access, and environmental sensors. RCare has also integrated with Amazon Alexa to allow residents to request help using only voice commands.

"RCare has always been on the forefront of technology, especially in the long-term care and nurse call industry," said RCare CEO Myron Kowal. "Virtual assistants such as Amazon's Alexa are a standard fixture in many homes. We believe that talking to your nurse call system is the future of care."

Fellowship Square-Mesa is an early adopter of RCare's voice controls. According to Executive Director Jon Scott Williams, until residents have personally been in a dangerous situation, they are not always careful to wear their pendants. The result is that the first crisis could be even more critical, if a senior needs to call for help, but can't reach a device. With RCare's voice commands, residents can request help, cancel help requests, and do daily check-ins. Even if there's no push button within reach, if residents have forgotten to wear their pendants, or if they're having difficulty moving, voice commands put help within their reach.
