holoride named one of TIME's 100 Best Inventions of 2019

MUNICH, Germany, Nov. 26, 2019 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- holoride, the company advancing the future of in-vehicle entertainment, announced it was named one of TIME Magazine's 100 Best Inventions of 2019, a list of groundbreaking innovations that are changing the way we live, work, play and think about what's possible.

"We're absolutely thrilled to be named one of the inventions changing how the world thinks about in-vehicle entertainment," said Nils Wollny, CEO and co-founder of holoride. "TIME'S recognition fuels our excitement for what holoride's immersive, elastic content will bring to the consumer market in the form of entertainment, experiential learning and mitigating passenger motion sickness."

Founded in 2018, holoride addresses the need for in-vehicle media from an entertainment and education perspective. This is possible through merging extended reality (XR) content with real-time navigational car data to transform every day journeys into hyper-immersive experiences. The holoride team has grown rapidly since its inception as they work with content creators, OEMs and developers to bring this technology to the growing passenger economy. Car manufacturers as well as some of the world's leading content creators are already getting into the in-vehicle entertainment game with holoride.

In October, holoride launched the first in-vehicle XR experience available to the public called "Bride of Frankenstein holoride" in partnership with Ford and Universal Pictures at Universal CityWalk Hollywood (Los Angeles). Guests were offered a VR experience inside a 2020 Ford Explorer that transported them to the mysterious and fascinating world of Victor Frankenstein. Once inside, riders buckled their seatbelts, strapped on a VR headset and were joined by a re-imagined virtual Bride of Frankenstein. Riders encountered virtual monsters and obstacles along the way, complete with sound effects and visuals that were synchronized to the movement of the car.

To assemble the 2019 TIME Best Inventions list, TIME solicited nominations across a variety of categories from editors and correspondents around the world, as well as through an online application process. Each contender was then evaluated on key factors, including originality, effectiveness, ambition and influence. See the full list here: time.com/bestinventions2019.
