The new, state-of-the-art community center is one of the final phases of major improvements at Hurlburt Field and, when completed, will be nearly 10,000 square feet and outfitted with amenities such as:

  • Media area with public computers
  • Multi-purpose room, available for resident events
  • Clubroom with open kitchen
  • Fitness room with an attached playroom
  • Swimming pool with pavilion
  • Half-court indoor basketball court, outdoor basketball court and playground
  • Full outdoor kitchen and patio

As the neighborhood focal point for residents, this building will also serve as the office space for housing personnel. The Hurlburt Field Community Center is the sixth community center built for the Air Force and the 37th across Corvias’ portfolio of 13 installations, serving both the Army and the Air Force. Corvias was the first housing partner to include a community center in its very first proposal to the military. Each community center built by Corvias has a theme and incorporates local facts and features from the installation.

“We strive to ensure that Hurlburt Field is a place our Airmen and families are proud to call home,” said Col. Michael Curry, vice commander of the 1st Special Operations Wing. “Through our partnership with Corvias, we’re thrilled to provide a new community center as a cornerstone of camaraderie and companionship for those who work so tirelessly in the defense of our nation.”

“This well-appointed community center will provide many benefits for our residents who call Hurlburt Field home,” said John G. Picerne, founder at Corvias. “This is the final step in a series of innovations and modernizations across Hurlburt Field that are designed to improve the quality of life of military families and serve as a gathering place for residents while enriching the feeling of community.”

Corvias manages the property and day-to-day housing operations at Hurlburt Field as part of the Military Housing Privatization Initiative that leverages private-sector capital and expertise to reverse the military’s housing deficiency by expanding and modernizing housing with predictable, stable, long-term operating costs and performance. Since the start of the 50-year partnership, Corvias has constructed 263 homes that can achieve LEED-Silver ratings and exceed Air Force standards for new construction. In the next two years, Corvias will complete an additional 141 new homes. The significant leadership and experience provided by Corvias builds a strong sense of community at Hurlburt Field through new construction, renovation, community engagement and property management.
