American Water Teams With American Corporate Partners to Support Transitioning Veterans

American Water (NYSE: AWK), the largest publicly-traded U.S. water and wastewater utility company, announced today it was teaming up with American Corporate Partners (ACP) to provide mentorships that assist veterans transitioning from military to civilian careers.

ACP’s Mentoring Program connects veterans with industry professionals for yearlong mentorships on topics ranging from resume building and interviewing to leadership and networking.

“The opportunity to offer mentorship and career guidance to those making the switch from military to civilian life is a chance for our employees to give back to their community and better understand the challenges these veterans face as they start new careers,” said Eric Palm, president of American Water’s Homeowner Services group and executive sponsor of the partnership.

Palm, a retired U.S. Army Colonel, will be one of 25 American Water mentors paired with veterans of mutual occupational interest to build relationships and grow their professional networks.

“All of us at ACP are delighted that American Water has joined our team of companies supporting our transitioning veterans,” said ACP Founder and Chairman Sid Goodfriend. “We are especially proud that Eric Palm has offered to be the executive sponsor of our program within the company. We look forward to introducing American Water mentors to our veterans in order to help them achieve their professional goals.”

The partnership with ACP is one of many efforts across American Water to support those who serve. The company has initiatives in place with the Army Partnership for Youth Success (PaYS), Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), and the Military Spouse Employment Partnership to build meaningful connections between the company, service members, and their families.

American Water has been recognized as Best for Vets by Military Times, as well as a Military Friendly® Gold and Military Spouse Friendly® Employer.
