Professional Physical Therapy Launches Telehealth, an Innovative Treatment Alternative for Patient Communities in the Northeast

MELVILLE, N.Y., March 17, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Professional Physical Therapy, a leading provider of outpatient physical and hand therapy and rehabilitation services in the Northeast, announces today the launch of Telehealth, a convenient treatment alternative for patients from the comfort of their homes.

Amid the recent Coronavirus outbreak, Professional Physical Therapy offers a solution for existing patients who want to continue their rehabilitation, but are not able to visit the clinic. A Telehealth appointment consists of a scheduled video call between the patient and physical or occupational therapist through Physitrack®, the platform patients are using to access their home exercise programs.

The use of this alternative treatment method gives patients the ability to follow their prescribed physical or occupational therapy exercise program, maintain their strength and mobility, and stay active, through a session conducted by a live Professional Physical Therapy licensed therapist. While Telehealth is not meant to completely replace in-person, hands-on treatment sessions, it is a safe, secondary option.

Dan Dourney, Chief Executive Officer at Professional Physical Therapy said, "We care about the health and wellbeing of our patients, and understand that unforeseen circumstances, such as illness, inclement weather, and transportation issues, can make it difficult for our patients to get to a clinic for treatment. While in-clinic rehabilitation is still the preferred and proven treatment method, Telehealth offers a realistic and practical alternative for patients who cannot get to the clinic, so they don't lose the momentum of their recovery."

Professional Physical Therapy operates 185 rehabilitation clinics in the Northeast across New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. Telehealth is currently available to existing patients companywide, with plans to expand services to new patient injury assessments and evaluations.
