Bluestone Sunshields Partners with Famed LA Boutique Owner, Ron Robinson, to Bring Consumers the Same Comfortable and Fashionable Face Shields Being Used by Businesses to Re-Open

Bluestone Sunshields, the original chic solution to facial sun protection, today announced that the COVID-inspired line of clear shields it designed to combat the PPE shortage among frontline workers are now available to consumers via an exclusive launch with Ron Robinson, the Los Angeles retail icon.

“Fashion is a reflection of society,” said Robinson. “These shields make safety sleek, modern and sexy. Helping people stay healthy and feel confident because they look good while doing it is exactly what society needs to make it through this pandemic.”

Ron Robinson, one of the pioneers of Fred Segal, built a reputation for bringing the latest and most relevant fashion to the Melrose Avenue store. Robinson played a role in the introduction of the original, tinted Bluestone Sunshields designed for protection against the sun for people who had undergone medical or cosmetic procedures and for those who suffer from a sun allergy. When the COVID-19 pandemic led to the creation of the new, clear shields, Podany had only thought of providing for the frontline workers and donated over 4,000 shields and glasses. That idea transformed into selling the shields to businesses as a more flexible, comfortable and attractive option to keep employees and customers safe knowing that the eyes are another point of entry for COVID-19.

“I kept getting emails and comments on my social media posts from people who had heard about or seen the shields we donated and wanted to buy one for themselves,” said CEO Jen Podany. “I talked to Ron about it and his enthusiasm was the deciding factor to launch the consumer line and of course, Ron was the one I wanted to do the launch.”

Now, amid an outcry of demand, Podany and Robinson are making the shields available for online purchase to the public. As society begins to resume pre-pandemic activities like doctor visits, shopping and even dining out, people want to protect themselves. According to a new review of studies published in The Lancet, the best way to avoid COVID-19 infection is to keep at least 1 meter apart and wear face masks and eye protection. Bluestone’s face shield is the best choice for a comfortable wear and a stylish look that provides eye protection and additional barrier against droplets.

The partnership between Bluestone and Ron Robinson is exclusive until the end of July, when Podany will allow other retailers to carry the shields for single purchase. Bluestone will continue to offer discounted packs of six shields to businesses using them as part of their reopening protocols.

About Bluestone Sunshields

Bluestone Sunshields are the premier provider of facial protection products. Founder and CEO, Jen Podany, was a licensed esthetician before launching Bluestone. She was inspired by her work alongside top dermatologists and physicians in Los Angeles and saw the need for something to provide privacy and protection for patients who had recently undergone treatments that left them extremely sensitive to sunlight. As a result of the company’s work with top doctors, cosmetic laser manufacturers and skin care professionals, Bluestone is founded on the mission to provide the best protection against the elements. All sunshields and face shields are tested and approved according to the ANSI Z80.3 standards, both in-house and by a third party.
