Kairos Aerospace Completes Spring Permian Basin Survey; Launches Larger Survey for Second Half of 2020

Kairos Aerospace, Inc (Kairos), the leading provider of large-scale aerial monitoring of methane emissions, today announced the completion of its first 2020 Permian Basin survey. The company surveyed more than 62,000 oil and gas wells and almost 25,000 miles of gas pipelines from more than 800 companies, over 6,444 square miles in West Texas and southeastern New Mexico.

“Our company has seen significant growth in the past two years and it is exciting to see the vast amount of actionable data we were able to collect through this survey, all while partnering the Permian’s major producers and midstream companies,” said Kairos Aerospace CEO and co-founder Steve Deiker. “I’m proud of our team and the difference we’re making on our clients’ product loss rates and their environmental impact.”

The completion of the first half survey also marks the start of Kairos’ second survey of the Permian Basin. This second half survey will cover 20,000 more active wells than the first 2020 survey. Simultaneously, Kairos has been surveying the majority of the DJ Basin in Colorado.

Kairos’ mission is to improve operational excellence for the oil and gas industry with cost-effective, efficient methane reductions at scale. Therefore, the data collected is only provided to companies who own the land or equipment and is never released publicly.

The 2020 surveys continue a trend of rapid growth for the company. In 2019, Kairos flew over 135,000 miles in the Permian Basin, completing the largest aerial survey of methane emissions ever conducted. Kairos used the resulting data to grow its customer base by 71 percent and prevent 3.9 billion cubic feet of methane from being released into the atmosphere, which is equivalent to taking over 425 thousand cars off the road.

Kairos is positioned to help companies quickly pinpoint the most significant leaks and allow those companies to utilize existing maintenance processes to repair the leaks, retaining higher amounts of product and preventing the release of methane into the atmosphere.
