Pathway introduces new chief medical officer, chief of professional relations

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 6, 2020 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Pathway Vet Alliance, a leading national veterinary management group serving pets and their parents throughout the U.S., announced Tuesday that Dr. Bob Murtaugh has become the company's new chief professional relations officer, and Dr. Scott Schatzberg will take over as chief medical officer.

Murtaugh, who is a board-certified veterinary emergency and critical care specialist and a board-certified specialist in veterinary internal medicine, has served as Pathway's CMO since 2015. In his new role as chief professional relations officer, Murtaugh will be responsible for developing strategies which support Pathway's efforts to identify and place 4th year candidates from universities and centers for veterinary medicine. Additionally, he'll work to further establish and coordinate Pathway's residency and internship programs, while collaborating with existing hospital leadership to identify and support building education tracks.

One of the programs Murtaugh is responsible for is Pathway's Penn Foster partnership program, which is already underway. This is the first technical school partnership program Pathway has launched, which is enabling 75 of Pathway's team members to continue their professional and personal development.

Schatzberg, who is a board-certified specialist in veterinary neurology and has served as a group vice president with Pathway since 2019, was promoted to chief medical officer. In his role, Schatzberg will oversee clinical operations to drive continued medical excellence and development of veterinary staff.
