LG Energy Solution to Present Next Generation Home Battery in First Quarter 2023

LG Energy Solution (LGES; KRX: 373220), a leading global manufacturer of advanced lithium-ion batteries, today announced its plan to launch a next-generation home battery in the first quarter of 2023.

Building upon LG Energy Solution’s long-standing expertise on modular design, the new planned addition to the product lineup of home batteries will offer a capacity of 10.6-35.4 kWh, depending on the number of battery modules installed. Specifically, a single storage system with 3 modules delivers 10.6 kWh, which can be expanded up to 5 modules to offer a capacity of 17.7 kWh. The maximum capacity of 35.4 kWh can be achieved by installing 2 systems with 5 modules per system.

“The scalability has never been simpler. By adding modules at any point after the installation, homeowners can scale up their energy storage systems simply and efficiently with minimal effort,” said Ryan Simpson, Sales Director of LG Energy Solution ESS Team in North America.

LG Energy Solution expects that this new generation of home batteries, customized easily for each site by selecting the number of modules, will satisfy the growing needs of homeowners for higher capacity and wider range of residential applications, such as using the power as a home back-up solution or charging electric vehicles.

The enhanced modular design also allows both installers and homeowners easier installation with reduced cost and time, regardless of the housing environment and space constraints. The new battery requires only a few minutes input by 1 installer, thanks to the use of boltless structure & plug-and-play connector. It is also equipped with additional safety improvements, which allows it to satisfy all UL9540A requirements for both indoor and outdoor installations.

In addition, LG Energy Solution is developing an inverter solution for the next-generation home battery, to grant more efficient energy output and better financial returns for homeowners who invest in the new system.

“Based on our strong capabilities in system integration and successful track record in product innovations, LG Energy Solution will continue to provide our customers with excellent products and solutions,” added Ryan Simpson.
