Questionmark unveils new tools to make testing fairer and more accessible

Leading online assessment provider, Questionmark, has unveiled a host of new sector-leading software designed to make testing fairer and more accessible than ever before.

Questionmark, who design and build a range of intuitive cutting-edge user-centered technology, is built around the belief that proving knowledge should be fair and accessible to all.

The new features include text-to-speech, designed to aid those who struggle with written information by providing an audio description of highlighted text, and Instant Translate, which translates text in real time into ‘native tongue’.

For many non-native speakers or those who face exam anxiety due to issues like reading difficulties, having tools which level the playing field of assessments is a major contributing factor to proving knowledge and skills.

Fair and inclusive tests for groups such as these are a key component of equitable testing by assessing a test-taker’s knowledge, rather than their reading comprehension.

Neil McGough, General Manager of Questionmark, said: “Undoubtedly, people with reading difficulties, non-native speakers or those who have low confidence with written exams, can be at a notable disadvantage – especially for tests that influence a person’s future. At Questionmark, we believe it's critical to empower organizations to build assessments with equity, fairness and inclusivity at their core.”

Neil continues “Bringing these tools to our customers is our first step in raising the bar and expectations in the market. We want to ensure that every individual taking a Questionmark powered assessment has the tools needed to be assessed fairly, and that businesses, universities and certification programs are properly awarding ability and potential.”

Alongside text-to-speech and Instant Translate, Questionmark has also introduced two other new features; observational assessments, which helps to assess on-the-job competency and People Sync for Workday, which creates an integrated assessment solution for Workday Learning customers.

These new software announcements come as Questionmark launches a new brand, further strengthening its relationship with assessment software company Learnosity who acquired Questionmark in June 2021.
