Boeing 747
Ashot has been the sole supplier of the flaps transmissions for the 747 aircraft for more than 15 years. Ashot has manufactured, assembled and tested thousands of transmissions – 8 per aircraft, and supplied them directly to the 747-400 assembly line.

Airbus A380
Each A380 contains 16 gearboxes, 228 U-joints and 14 shafts manufactured by Ashot. Manufacturing, assembling and testing is done in house.

Boeing 787
The new 787 Dreamliner has a new HLS concept comprised of U-joints and diaphragm couplings.

Aerospace Transmissions and Gears

One of Ashot’s major core technologies is based on the production of transmissions, gearboxes, and various types of gear-based products and systems for the aerospace industry. Ashot has the knowledge, equipment, and staff to provide complete transmissions and gearboxes that meet the customer’s most demanding requirements.

State-of-the-art manufacturing technologies and a highly skilled workforce make Ashot competitive in the global marketplace. Universal Joints

A universal joint (U-joint) is a joint that transmits rotary motion between two shafts that are not positioned in a straight line, and allows each shaft to 'bend' in any direction. It is commonly used in shafts that transmit rotary motion and consists of a pair of ordinary hinges located close together, but perpendicular to each other. The U-joints are a key component in shafts that transmit rotary motion on aircrafts and helicopters.

Ashot specializes in manufacturing universal joints in different sizes and materials. They are most commonly used in high lift systems, where the U-joints connect the shafts that transfer the motion, and control the motion and position of the flaps and slats. U-joints are also used in helicopter rotor shafts and steering systems. Ashot is a sole supplier of U-joints to the A380 and B747 aircrafts.

Tungsten Balance Weights

Ashot is a primary source for tungsten-based heavy metal products. The special high specific density characteristics and slight or non-magnetic properties make tungsten ideal for a variety of low volume/high weight applications in the Aerospace industry. Ashot's tungsten products are installed in a variety of aircrafts and serve as balance weights in the wing fuselage, vertical (rudder) and horizontal (elevator) stabilizers, in helicopter rotors (bifilars), propellers and Aerospace instruments. The majority of balance weights that Ashot supplies are flight safety products. Ashot's products have been installed in more than a dozen different types of aircrafts, including the Boeing 747-400, 737, 767, 757, Gulfstream G-150 & G-200 and Sikorsky UH-60.

Ashot's impressive blending and sintering facilities are backed by metallurgical, chemical and mechanical laboratories equipped with state-of-the art systems. This includes an ICP spectroscope, a scanning electron microscope and other methods of chemical and mechanical analysis.

Defense Transmissions and Gears

The superb mobility and agile maneuverability of the Merkava MBT and the improved M-60 tanks are achieved using Ashot's transmission, suspension, final drives and other automotive train parts.

Ashot designs and manufactures various drive train systems for the Merkava Mark 1, 2, 3 and 4 MBT including the final drive suspension system and main power transmission.  Ashot produces and upgrades advanced automatic main power transmissions for battle tanks. Ashot Ashkelon offers an upgrade package for the Allison CD-850.

A new improvement kit upgrades the transmission to match 900-1000 HP engines. The new kit is aimed at improving the transmission’s reliability and maintainability, as well as extending its lifespan. Ashot is a reliable source of gear based systems, such as final drives, Power Take Off (PTO) and clutch units, transfer cases, tooth couplings and other transmission and power distribution systems for tanks, armored personnel carriers, tracked vehicles and wheeled heavy trucks.

Ashot specializes in all drive train and gear based systems for tanks, troop carriers and other military vehicles. Ashot has build-to-print, build-to-spec and total design capabilities and offers gear-based systems, assemblies and components for existing products, new programs, and upgrade programs, including all stages of design, production and delivery.

Final Drives

Ashot produces final drives for major leading battle tanks and APCs including: Merkava, M-1, M-60 and improved M-60, Centurion, M-9 and M-88 tanks, as well as M-109 and M-107 self-propelled guns. In addition, Ashot produces final drives for the M-113 Armored Personnel Carrier family and other varieties of APCs. Ashot also develops and produces its own M-48, M-60 family and Centurion tank final drive upgrade systems (upgraded solutions for various power pack combinations). Ashot Ashkelon has full test capabilities of the products it develops and manufactures.

M-88 Recovery Vehicle – Final Drive
Ashot produces the M-88a1 final drive under contract to USG –TACOM – WARREN. Hundreds of final drive sets were promptly delivered in previous years. Production for present and future years is currently underway.

Ashot’s impressive sintering and powder blending facilities are backed by state of the art systems, including a scanning electron microscope, specialized weighing equipment, ICP spectroscope, and other chemical analysis methods. Ashot operates one of the world’s largest sintering centers, capable of manufacturing a wide variety of tungsten alloys, featuring varying degrees of physical and mechanical properties, as well as other specialized alloys.

These alloys include a large variety of Ashot’s designed and approved alloys, such as: Tungsten-nickel-iron, tungsten-nickel-copper, or tailor made alloys according to customer requirements.Ashot can produce an impressive variety of part shapes, sizes and weights. Ashot production currently includes items weighing less than 1/40th of an ounce (1/2 gram) and more than 180 pounds (80 kg).

Allison CD-850 Transmission Upgrade

Ashot Ashkelon offers an upgrade package for the Allison CD-850 transmission, which is a new improvement kit upgrading the transmission to match 900-1000 HP engines. The new kit is aimed at improving the transmission’s reliability and maintainability as well as extending its lifespan. The company's customers use these transmissions on improved M-60 tanks and on other improved armored platforms. The package is fully tested, "Type Classified", ordered and used by the IDF.

Ashot owns state of the art machines for precision machining, supplied by Pfauter- Gleason, Mazak, Red Ring, Studer, Cincinnati, Okuma, Hitachi Seiki, Tacchi, Maho, and others.
