Inertial Measurements Units (IMUs)

 

Al Cielo Inertial Solutions high performance Inertial Measurement Units (IMU) employs the latest FOG and linear acceleration technology. The IMU contains three FOG sensors and three accelerometer sensors, including the support electronics and algorithms.

The IMUs provides fully compensated measurements of angular rates and linear accelerations suitable for navigation, stabilization, and flight control. The IMUs are manufactured in several form factors using the same inertial sensors, electronic design, and basic parts making the IMU cost and size competitive. Al Cielo IMUs are ideal candidates for any demanding applications.

Al Cielo's IMUs are intended for use in a multitude of applications. The units deliver fully-compensated angular rates and linear accelerations. The sensors are classified and categorized according to their Bias instability, Noise performance and dynamic ranges.

Due to Cielo's full control over the sensor technology, design and production processes the company can offer "Off the Shelf", semi-customized, or fully customized IMUs, with variations in performance and interfaces. 

MU 42: Inertial Measurement Unit
IMU 42 family employs the latest closed-loop FOG and linear rebalanced accelerometer technology. It is a small, lightweight, high performance strap-down Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), suited for navigation, line of sight stabilization and flight control.

IMU 52: Inertial Measurement Unit
IMU 52 family employs the latest closed-loop FOG and linear rebalanced accelerometer technology. It is a small, lightweight, high performance strap-down Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), suited for navigation, stabilization and flight control.

IMU 53: Inertial Measurement Unit
Al Cielo’s IMU 53 employs the latest closed-loop FOG and linear rebalanced accelerometer technology. It is a navigation grade, high performance strap-down Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), suited for aircraft, land and marine navigation, gyro compassing and north finding applications.

FOGs: Fiber Optic Gyros

 

Al Cielo design and manufacture of inertial sensors relies on proprietary innovations and in-house manufacturing capabilities. They thus ensure total control of standards and performance, while delivering exceptional flexibility for tailored requirements.
In order to achieve the high level closed loop at all environmental conditions mandated by the Cielo FOG, the company has also developed in-house special manufacturing equipment for the quadruple winding of the optical fiber.

Cielo's FOG advantages:

  • A true "solid state" gyroscope contains no moving parts, no dither or gaseous cavities, ensuring long, reliable shelf and usage life.

Al Cielo's closed loop fiber-optic gyros are intended for use in a multitude of applications. It delivers fully-compensated angular rates or angular increments over a serial or analog interface. Due to Cielo's full control over the technology we can offer Gyroscopes with various performance and interface.

FOG 72: Fiber Optic Gyro
FOG 72 is a small, lightweight, high performance closed loop fiber optic gyro, suited for stabilization, flight and fire control, and commercial applications, particularly where space is a constraint.

FOG 53: Fiber Optic Gyro
FOG 53 is a state-of-the-art closed loop fiber optic gyroscope series developed by Al Cielo.
The FOG 53 series delivers superior precision and reliable performance at lower cost and smaller size than other comparable gyros in general, and FOG in particular.

FOG 24 (IRU): Fiber Optic Gyro
FOG 24 is an outstanding performance closed loop fiber optic gyroscope series developed by Al Cielo. The FOG 24 series delivers superior precision and reliable performance at affordable cost and smaller size than other comparable gyros in general, and FOG in particular.

Accelerometers

The DC Family is an outstanding performance Rebalanced Quartz Pendulum Accelerometers, suited for navigation, stabilization, and flight control. Developed by Al Cielo Inertial Solutions. The DC Accelerometers series delivers superior precision and reliable performance at affordable cost and smaller size.

The DC Accelerometers can be optimized for specific applications on an individual basis. The DC Accelerometers are available with a flexible performance configuration and can be offered with space and radiation hardness certification.

DC 250: Al Cielo Accelerometer
Rebalanced Quartz Pendulum Accelerometers. Al Cielo’s DC 250 accelerometer employs the latest linear rebalanced accelerometer technology. It is a small, lightweight, high performance Accelerometers, suited for navigation, stabilization and flight control.

Design & manufacture ITAR free FOGs, IMUs and Accelerometers

Al Cielo is an Israeli corporation, the only one that designs & manufactures ITAR free FOGs, IMUs and accelerometers.

Al Cielo has leveraged its legacy of over 9 years including over 40 patents and $50 million dollar facilities in Jerusalem, Israel to establish itself as a leading supplier of FOG’s and FOG based IMUs.

Al Cielo today is the only local supplier in Israel for closed loop FOGs and space qualified FOGs. It also has worldwide delivery contracts with dominance among the Israeli Defence primes.

Aircraft Protection

Al Cielo Inertial Solutions designed, and has been supplying the IMU52-F as the primary IMU for a world-leading aircraft protection system since 2012. The system development process was performed according to regulations of the Israeli FAA branch in order to support the system's quality compliance to a civilian aircraft usage. The aircraft protection system including the IMU has successfully passed operational testing during 2014, and the deliveries are expected to continue for the next several years.

Missiles and Accurate Munitions

Al Cielo Inertial Solutions IMU52-H has been chosen by a major Israeli missiles manufacturer as the primary IMU for a medium-long range rocket. The design stage was performed on schedule and with full compliance to the client requirements. After a series of successful launch tests during 2013, Al Cielo Inertial Solutions has begun and completed the first supply phase of over 500 IMU by the end of 2014. Al Cielo Inertial solutions discusses continued orders for several similar projects, based on the project's mutual success.

Another leading weapon system manufacturer had chosen the IMU52 as the primary IMU for a long range standoff accurate munition. Al Cielo Inertial Solutions has supplied the integration and testing models, and is preparing for the serial delivery phase.

UAV Industry

The IMU52-B is under continued order by several leading Israeli UAV and manufacturers for flight control and navigation, as well as payload navigation and line of sight stabilization. Retainer Supply orders for 2015 is being delivered, and continued orders for 2016-2017 supply order were received.

Payloads

The IMU52-I has been ordered, tested, and standardized for usage inside a high-end EO/IR payload by a governmental agency of an undisclosed country. Follow up orders for production are underway. The IMU52 has been tested by a world leading payload manufacturer and had significantly improved the jitter performance in comparison to an existing FOG IMU, while reducing the overall payload cost, raising the payload competitive edge.

The IMU 42 raised great interest from the leading Israeli as well as international payload vendors. Purchase orders has already been received for test units and qualified units, and the High end EO/IR payload line of a leading Israeli industry is being adapted to the IMU42F in order to enhance its capabilities and reduce costs. The IMU 42 has recently been chosen for the new line of high-end observation systems by a major payload vendor, mainly due to its enhanced performance and small form factor, enabling very accurate line of sight stabilization, and low jitter levels.
