Kharkiv Morozov Machine Building Design Bureau, often called Kharkiv Morozov Design Bureau (KMDB), is a member of the Ukroboronprom state concern. The company designs and produces armoured vehicles, including the T-80UD and T-84 main battle tanks, as well as military prime movers.

The State Enterprise covers the whole process in the development of armoured equipment, from the first line in the figure, up to further enhancement of existing vehicle. The nomenclature of tracked vehicles includes main battle tanks Yatagan, Oplot, T/80UD, heavy infantry combat vehicle BTMP-84, and armoured repair and recovery vehicle BREM-84.

Main Battle tank BM “Oplot” and BM “Bulat” were developed by the State Enterprise (SE) KMDB and adopted by the Armed Forces of Ukraine as examples of modern armoured vehicles. Their technical characteristics correspond to the characteristics of some of the best world samples, and sometimes even better than the equivalent others.

Wheeled vehicles – produced by SE KMDB – include armoured personnel carriers BTR-60, BTR-70, BTR-80, armoured personnel carrier BTR-3 and also armoured reconnaissance patrol vehicle BRDM-2. SE KMDB has also developed a multipurpose wheeled vehicle of cross-country country -with a wheel arrangement of 4×4- (vehicle “Dozor-B”) and an armoured personnel carrier BTR-4.

KMDB closely associated with the Malyshev Factory, was responsible for many important Soviet AFVs, including the BT tank series and the T-34, T-54 and T-64 tanks. Today, it possesses great capabilities in the modernization of the outdated combat tanks, including the T-72, T-64, T-59, T-55 and T-54.

After Ukraine signed a $650 million defence contract with Pakistan in 1999,  KMDB began supplying Pakistan with the 6TD-2 diesel engine for installation on the Al-Khalid main battle tank, and has assisted with Pakistan's Al-Zarrar tank project. In the same year, the T-84 entered service with the Military of Ukraine , and the more advanced Oplot version in 2001. The tank is actively marketed for export, and can incorporate Russian countermeasure systems and a French fire-control system.  In 2012 the bureau entered another international contract with Iran. To this day, the company continues to remodel and produces new, updated versions of their products.

Finally, the KMDB develops various civilian products, including equipment for metallurgic industry and for radioactive-waste handling and special equipment on heavy tracked base, among others.
