Arab British for Engines Company (ABECO) was established in 1978 as a joint venture between Arab Organisation for Industrialization (AOI) and Rolls Royce PLC. to perform Overhaul, Maintenance and Repair of Helicopter's Engines. In 2009, ABECO became completely owned by AOI under the same name (ABECO).

ABECO's military activities include repair and overhaul of several types of Turboshaft and Piston Engines of Helicopters, Training & Light aircraft and Tanks, such as:

  • Russian "TV2-117A/AG" mounted on Helicopter MI-8
  • Russian Engine "TV3-117VM SER. 02" mounted on Helicopter MI-17
  • French Engine "ASTAZOU-XIV H" mounted on Helicopter GAZELLE
  • British Engine "GNOME H1400-1" mounted on Helicopter COMMANDO
  • American Engine "AGT-1500" mounted on Tank M1A1


  • American Engine "VO-540-C2A" mounted on Helicopter HELLER
  • American Engine "O-540-J3A5" mounted on Aircraft ZLIN
  • American Engine "AEIO-360-BIB" mounted on Aircraft GROB

The company under license from the French Turbomeca (Safran) is engaged in the production of the ASTAZOU engine for the Gazelle helicopter and the T.V.2 engine for the MI8 aircraft.

ABECO's capabilities include:
