The objective of this contract is to develop the preliminary design of only the Cask and Plug Remote Handling System (CPRHS) Equatorial Port Plug (EPP) cask variant to the full (nuclear-grade) system specification. It is specifically confined to equatorial Port Cell 11 (a.k.a. EP-11) which hosts a diagnostic port plug and is limited to the Cask Docking System (CDS), the Cask Envelope System (CES) and the Cask Control System (CCS) — associated to the CDS and CES.

This amendment adds activities related to the ongoing design for the CPRHS. Although the activities subject of this amendment were not included at signature of the specific contract, they have become necessary. As the additional activities are strongly interlinked with ongoing (design) work/services for the CPRHS a change of contractor is not feasible for economic and technical reasons and would cause significant inconvenience and substantial duplication of costs.
