The purpose of the contract is to build a better disaster management system in Türkiye through increased capacity of AFAD and strengthened cooperation among relevant stakeholders and to improve the disaster-resilience of target cities with an emphasis on AFAD provincial directorates and metropolitan municipalities.

The Project directly relates to disaster risk reduction, civil protection, environment and climate change issues at the national and local levels.

It will improve the technical capacities and quality of information necessary for the further progress in the implementation of EU Environment and Climate Change legislation. The Project will also strengthen the capacity of provincial and local actors in the area of civil protection and disaster risk management.
