Local dealerships donate bell to Bluffton Township Fire District Honor Guard

BLUFFTON, S.C., Jan. 2, 2018 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- No homeowner or business owner ever wants to see their property fall victim to flames, and chances are they won't have to. Yet, fires happen, and those who have experienced them are surely grateful for the assistance they received from their local fire service. It is this attitude that lead two Bluffton, South Carolina, car dealerships to show appreciation in their own way.

Bluffton-located Hilton Head Honda and Mercedes-Benz of Hilton Head recently donated a new bell to the Bluffton Township Fire District Honor Guard. The fire bell, an iconic symbol throughout the history of fire service, will be used by the Bluffton Township Fire District for funeral services, significant community events and 9/11 memorial services.

Before today's fire service system, bells could be used to alert local residents to a fire. When fire alarm pull boxes were implemented on street corners, fire bells could be used to indicate the number of the box that rose the alarm. Throughout history, these bells have proven their usefulness, and therefore, remain a significant part of the Bluffton Township Fire District.

Both Hilton Head Honda and Mercedes-Benz of Hilton Head are proud to play a part in providing the community with such a significant artifact and are honored to provide their support.
