Molex Vision Center Makes Way for Next-Generation Workspace Innovation

Molex has announced completion of extensive renovations to an existing building on the campus of its Lisle headquarters. The Molex Vision Center highlights transformative workspace concepts, smart lighting and other network-connected solutions to boost productivity, encourage healthy lifestyles, and serve a dynamic and dispersed workforce.

“As more professionals join the corporate ranks, there is growing demand for flexible office environments that reflect a shared sense of community and purpose. The new Molex Vision Center is designed to promote innovation and higher productivity by fostering collaboration and engagement,” said Tim Ruff, senior vice president of business development, Molex.

The building features nonconventional individual workspaces with square footage allocated equally to all employees regardless of seniority. White noise minimizes distractions for improved concentration. Ergonomic, height-adjustable desks provide the choice to work sitting or standing for increased circulation and mental alertness. The layout promotes scalable densification and allows for more square footage dedicated to common zones and collaboration areas.

A variety of shared functional areas within the Molex Vision Center can accommodate diverse work styles and purposes. In addition to nooks for focused individual work, there are seven different “huddle rooms” available without reservation and suitable for individuals, team meetings and workgroups. Each huddle room offers a unique setting, including soft seating in one, and café style décor in another. Multiple conference rooms accommodate larger groups. Wireless light switches and wall-mounted monitors, Wi-Fi and device charging stations, video and teleconferencing, and other connected technologies provide greater freedom in how and where Molex partners, suppliers and employees in the building choose to work.

The intelligent, low-voltage Molex Transcend Network Connected Lighting System powers and controls LED fixtures for lighting that adapts to mood, tasks and ambient conditions. Overhead lighting dynamically adjusts energy and intensity in response to natural daylight changes. The connectivity to the network allows for continuous monitoring of the Molex Vision Center for air quality and temperature, and real-time energy consumption.

Adds Mike Picini, vice president, connected lighting, Molex: “Today’s technological advances deliver so much more flexibility than the more rigid, isolating and sedentary office modalities of the past. The Molex Vision Center demonstrates how the synergy of space, technology and light can all play an important role as the workforce makes way for the first generation of ‘digital natives’ ‒ which is now our nation’s largest generational cohort.”
