Lutron Dimmers, Sensors and Automated Shades Standardized in Lennar’s Wi-Fi CERTIFIED Home Design™ Communities

Lighting and shade control leader Lutron Electronics today announced that its smart dimmers, occupancy sensors, and battery-powered shades will become standard offerings in the world’s first Wi-Fi CERTIFIED homes from Lennar, one of the nation's largest builders. Through the use of Lutron lighting and shade controls, buyers will enjoy such benefits as never entering a dark home and using lights and shades to mimic occupancy when away from home.

Lennar’s recently announced Wi-Fi CERTIFIED homes will include Lutron Caséta Wireless dimmers and Maestro occupancy sensors as standard, with the option to add more devices after move-in. Select communities will also include Lutron’s Serena battery-powered shades. Caséta Wireless dimmers and Serena automated shades can both be controlled through the free Lutron App or via voice with Amazon Alexa, which will power all of the smart home devices in Lennar’s Wi-Fi CERTIFIED communities.

“Thousands of home buyers will now enjoy the daily benefits of living a connected life with simple, reliable controls from Lutron and other leading brands,” said Michael Smith, Vice-President of Sales at Lutron. “Lennar’s vision of delivering an immersive smart home experience as part of their ‘Everything Included’ concept will drive widespread adoption of smart home products, which is exactly what’s needed to move the industry forward. Products from Lutron and other leading brands will truly help these customers live their best lives at home.”

Builders Can Count on Lutron

Lutron launched Caséta Wireless in 2014 as a simple and affordable solution for controlling lights, shades and temperature from anywhere in the world, via the Lutron app, the system’s Pico wireless remote controls, or via third-party integration. The system is compatible with most dimmable LEDs, as well as halogen bulbs – making it a simple addition to any new or existing home. Its easy integration with a wide variety of popular smart home products provides users with a great in-home experience.

“We chose Lutron because it’s the gold standard in quality, service and reliability,” said David Kaiserman, president of Lennar Ventures. “Lutron is the undisputed leader in lighting control – with elegant products that look great and complement other smart devices to create a new way of living. We’re excited to bring that experience to Lennar home buyers across the country.”

“Lutron prides itself on working with forward-thinking companies like Lennar to jointly deliver an unparalleled in-home experience combined with Lutron’s industry-leading 24/7 technical support,” said Smith.

Lennar will begin offering Wi-Fi CERTIFIED home designs in July, rolling out to the entirety of its national footprint by year's end. In addition to Lutron dimmers and sensors, products from Amazon, Baldwin, Kwikset, Honeywell, Ring, Ruckus, Samsung, and Sonos will also be included.

Lutron has made it easy for builders to integrate smart lighting and shade controls into their homes. Builders can count on Lutron for their unparalleled 24/7 customer support, and simple installation. Lutron devices are either plugged directly into a wall outlet, easily installed in place of a light switch, or installed on a window as easily as mini blinds, making for a quick and easy installation process. Builders can also turn to Lutron’s LED Center of Excellence to ensure compatibility and superior dimming performance with halogens and LED bulbs.

According to Smith, more than ever, builders are keenly aware that the addition of products like Caséta Wireless lighting control and Serena automated shades will help differentiate themselves in the market and provide their customers with the products they desire most. In their May 2017 State of the Builder Technology Market report, the Consumer Technology Association (CTA) found that installed home technologies continue to play a significant role in marketing new homes. In fact, four in five builders say marketing home technologies is important, with one in three saying it is very important.
