Exactuals Appoints Former Dart Data CEO/Apple Veteran to Head of Music Product

LOS ANGELES, June 28, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Exactuals, provider of an innovative SaaS platform for complex payments, today announced it has added independent musician, label president and former Apple technologist Chris McMurtry to its seasoned executive team. Chris most recently founded music metadata leader Dart Data as CEO.

Exactuals, which recently announced $21.5M in funding and a landmark deal involving SAG-AFTRA, provides an innovative SaaS platform used by film/TV, music, and marketplace companies to manage residuals, royalties, and other complex payments for thousands of payees. With the appointment of McMurtry to the Head of Music Product post, Exactuals has significantly deepened its ability to serve the rapidly changing payment and reporting needs of publishing companies, record labels, performance rights organizations, music streaming companies, business managers, songwriters, and more.

McMurtry will report to Exactuals CPO Ilie Ardelean and work closely with Exactuals CEO Mike Hurst while overseeing product development as it pertains to the company's music industry customer base. Born and raised in Nashville, Chris' career officially began at age 15 as a session player and later as touring musician. His passion for music is only equaled by the underlying technologies and data that drive its curation, discoverability, insights, and accurate payments. A veteran of Apple Inc., label president, and most recently, Founder and CEO of Dart Music Inc., Chris has been fortunate to serve some of the greatest teams in music technology.

"I could not be more excited by the opportunity to join a talented team so hyper-focused on serving the payments and data needs of rights-holders and music industry leaders," said Chris McMurtry, Head of Music Product at Exactuals. "With technology only as good as the data that serves it--especially in the entertainment and payments space--I believe Exactuals will prove to be the lifeblood of this rapidly-evolving marketplace."

Exactuals works with all facets of the music industry to provide secure, transparent, and rapid payments, providing a flexible platform that can be established quickly and modified in real time. Exactuals empowers clients to do what they do best while resolving payment mechanics that can slow down otherwise agile companies.

"This is a very exciting time for Exactuals," said Mike Hurst, Exactuals CEO and Co-Founder. "Chris is a visionary in the music industry, and he will prove to be a transformative force for Exactuals in the space for years to come. It should also be noted that Chris is a great person, leader, and parent who suits our corporate culture perfectly. We couldn't be happier to welcome Chris to the team."
