First Commercial Order of The Answer® in Pakistan
International Dispensing Corporation (IDC; IDND) announced today that it has received its first commercial order for importing milk into Pakistan, the world’s fourth largest dairy consuming country.
Privatmolkerei Naarmann GmbH is in the process of fulfilling the order, producing ultra-high-temperature (UHT) milk in bag-in-box (BIB) packages fitted with The Answer®. The first shipment is expected to reach Pakistan in the third week of August.
The Answer, the award-winning and world’s only aseptic dispensing tap, can safely dispense UHT liquid foods and beverages, including dairy products, while keeping the remaining contents in the package shelf-stable for an extended period of time without refrigeration. Naarmann’s shipments of top German-quality BIB milk come with a guarantee of 6 months shelf life and, more importantly, 10 days of ambient non-refrigerated dispensing with The Answer. Based on rigorous shelf-life tests, 10 days is a very conservative number for The Answer, but nonetheless a commercial breakthrough of global proportions for milk preservation and safety.
Naarmann’s initial shipment will target the Karachi market. Product will be distributed into a wide range of venues—milk shops, foodservice establishments, convenience stores, bakeries, and consumers—to help determine where best to focus initial sales efforts for maximum market penetration and fastest growth.
IDC’s local partner and customer is ZAP Logistics Pvt Ltd, a distribution company for dairy and food products based in Karachi. The management team of ZAP logistics, comprised of both Pakistani and European senior executives, has vast experience in the Pakistani dairy and food sector as well as documented skills in marketing FMCG and dairy products. Based on its extensive market research, ZAP has determined that the Pakistani dairy market is conducive to a large-format package with The Answer and has prepared an ambitious business plan to penetrate the entire country, which consumes approximately 30 billion liters of liquid dairy product per year. ZAP anticipates that orders will ramp up quickly once the IDC package begins to appear in the marketplace.
In addition to the dairy launch, ZAP is developing a separate marketing plan for juices in Pakistan. The IDC large-format container with The Answer will be used for the local foodservice markets as well as for export of Pakistan’s high quality juices.
IDC’s representative in Pakistan, Mr. Pär Söderlund, comments: “On behalf of IDC, we are very excited to begin serving the Pakistani market with a large-size aseptic container for milk, as we believe it will add considerable value to the category. In Naarmann and ZAP Logistics we have two excellent, seasoned partners who will focus on delivering top quality milk with The Answer throughout Pakistan."
IDC’s penetration into Pakistan and other markets has begun to generate positive press coverage, as evidenced by a recent article in Business Trends Magazine.
