Datron Exits UAS Market & Ends Aeryon Relationship
Datron World Communications Inc., a US-based leading supplier of military radio equipment to the international marketplace, has decided to exit the Small Unmanned Arial Surveillance (SUAS) market and end its relationship with Aeryon Labs Inc. This decision was forced by Aeryon’s actions in the marketplace which limited Datron’s efforts and success in marketing the Scout and SkyRanger products to its international and US Government customers. Datron worked for several years to get the Aeryon products included in a recently awarded multi-year IDIQ contract with a not to exceed value of $495 million. Consequently, Datron is taking legal actions against Aeryon due to their disruptive actions.
“The behavior of Aeryon in the marketplace forced us to examine our relationship and go-forward strategy,” said Art Barter, President and CEO of Datron. “We invested a great deal of resources in creating a demand for the Aeryon products. Aeryon’s desire to substantially change our relationship severely limits Datron’s ability to participate in the future sales and profits it has invested in since 2010.”
In response to these actions, on June 30, 2017, Datron filed a request for arbitration before the International Chamber of Commerce/International Court of Arbitration seeking over twenty million dollars in damages for breach of contract, interference, and various forms of misrepresentations, amongst others.
Mr. Barter further added “our original agreement was officially terminated by Aeryon on July 20, 2016. Datron has been extremely patient with Aeryon, hoping to resolve this issue between the parties. With the management change at Aeryon earlier this year, we provided their new acting CEO time to respond to our concerns and position without success.”
Datron wishes to thank our network of international representatives that took the Aeryon products to market. Furthermore, Datron wishes continued success to those representatives which have been hired by Aeryon since our termination.
