U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Awards Leidos Prime Contract

RESTON, Va., Sept. 12, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Leidos (NYSE: LDOS), a FORTUNE 500(®) science and technology company, was awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), St. Louis District, to provide hazardous, toxic and radioactive waste (HTRW) investigations and environmental remediation. The single-award, indefinite delivery/indefinite quantity, cost-plus fixed-fee contract has a one-year base, with an ultimate completion date of February 2023 if all options are exercised. Total contract value is approximately $49 million. Work will be performed primarily in St. Louis, Mo., and Burlington, Iowa.

A key part of the USACE's environmental mission is cleaning up low-level radioactive and chemical waste from the nation's early atomic weapons program through the Formerly Utilized Sites Remedial Action Program (FUSRAP). Leidos will work cooperatively with the USACE, St. Louis District to employ innovative, cost-effective environmental investigations and remedial solutions at four major sites that were contaminated with waste from the Manhattan Project as well as approximately 100 potentially impacted vicinity properties.

With more than 18 years performing all scope elements for USACE St. Louis FUSRAP, Leidos possesses unmatched mission understanding and program-specific expertise in radiological clearance, remedial design and remediation of contaminated soils, and the management of the only on-site radiochemistry laboratory with Department of Defense Environmental Laboratory Accreditation Program (ELAP) accreditation. The Leidos team will perform HTRW investigations, conduct environmental monitoring, develop Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) decision documents, manage/operate a full-service radiological laboratory, provide data management, and support community involvement efforts for environmental programs managed by USACE.
