Adams State University Launches New Digital Award Letters to Improve Access to Financial Aid for Pell-eligible Students

ALAMOSA, Colo., Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Adams State University today announced a partnership with CampusLogic, the first and only unified student financial services platform, to streamline the financial aid process for students and families. Through CampusLogic's digital AwardLetter solution, Adams State students will have access to easy, mobile, personalized award letters that help them better understand financial aid awards and make informed borrowing decisions.

Adams State University, located in Alamosa, CO, is a Hispanic-Serving Institution with a student population of nearly 3,500. The university has among the highest percentage of Pell grant-eligible students of Colorado's 4-year institutions, with over half of its student population eligible for Pell grants and more than 90 percent receiving some form of financial aid. Research suggests that Pell grant recipients graduate at lower rates than non-Pell students, leading colleges and universities to seek new strategies to support financial aid recipients throughout the process.

"Our mission at Adams State University of educating and serving underserved groups is reflected in our deep commitment to affordability and access for all students," said Karla Hardesty, Executive Director for Enrollment Management at Adams State University. "The experience of applying for and deciphering financial aid awards can be complex and time-consuming, so we are excited to be able to leverage CampusLogic technology to help our students more clearly understand the investment they are making in their future."

Beginning this fall, Adams State students will receive digital, personalized award letters that embed videos and resources help to explain complex terms and concepts, bringing greater transparency around offers of aid. University staff will receive real-time updates on student engagement, making it easier to reach out and offer guidance during the financial aid process.

"Too often, the process of applying for and understanding financial aid becomes a barrier that prevents students from persisting in their education," said Gregg Scoresby, Founder and CEO of CampusLogic. "Adams State University is dedicated to supporting its students throughout the process, and we look forward to working with them to increase accessibility, reduce borrowing, and drive down the cost of financial aid administration."
