Entrust Datacard Joins the Industrial Internet Consortium to Champion a Trusted Industrial Internet of Things

Entrust Datacard, a leading provider of trusted identity and secure transaction technology solutions, has joined the Industrial Internet Consortium® (IIC) — the world’s leading organization transforming business and society by accelerating the adoption of the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT). Entrust Datacard contributes to IIC’s member base as a pure play security leader in the IIoT space.

As an IIC member, Entrust Datacard will partner with leading industry players and Internet of Things (IoT) innovators to offer education and insights to fellow members — sharing years of experience deploying large scale security infrastructure, best practices, and insights related to security in the ever-evolving IIoT.

Entrust Datacard is currently participating in several IIoT test beds to further innovation in this space. IIC members can look forward to early access to advancements like the Entrust Datacard ioTrust Security Solution — which addresses today’s IoT security challenges and helps companies maximize IoT investments.

Launched in July, the Entrust Datacard ioTrust Security Solution leverages the company’s long history of providing market-leading identity management solutions, and delivers a secure and trusted software infrastructure that safeguards data between devices, sensors, and backend platforms connected within an IoT ecosystem. By applying digital identities, managed through definable policy, the ioTrust Security Solution allows companies to do business in new ways and create the trusted products and experiences that IoT environments and customers demand. IIC members will additionally benefit from the identity-based security that enables trusted interactions between devices, applications and people.

“The IIC has made great strides in accelerating the adoption of IoT and driving business outcomes for industrial applications,” said Josh Jabs, Vice President, Office of the CTO and General Manager, IoT Solutions at Entrust Datacard. “Successfully implementing appropriate security controls will be critical to the overall advancement of the IIoT. We look forward to forging new partnerships with a community of IIoT manufacturers, service providers and consumers to secure IoT data across a variety of industries including industrial control systems, automotive, telecommunications and manufacturing supply chains.”

With over 30 years of expertise in establishing identity-based, trusted infrastructures for the world’s most secure environments, Entrust Datacard recognizes the unique needs of IoT environments and incorporates sound security practices based on enterprise-grade encryption technologies.

“It is our mission to deliver trustworthy IIoT in which the world’s systems and devices are securely connected and controlled to deliver transformational outcomes,” said Dr. Richard Mark Soley, executive director for the Industrial Internet Consortium. “We are looking forward to Entrust Datacard’s participation as a member of the IIC to work with other members to develop best practices for Industrial IoT security.”

Entrust Datacard will continue to address the pivotal IoT challenges of security, control and adoption through its solutions. For more information on the Entrust Datacard ioTrust Security Solution and specific industry use cases, visit www.entrustdatacard.com/internet-of-things.
