Groundbreaking New Hair Transplant Technology UGraft Debuts at the Advanced FUE Los Angeles Workshop Sponsored by the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS)

LOS ANGELES, Oct. 19, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- From October 20-22, Dr. Umar's UGraft technology will premiere at the ISHRS live procedure workshop and be made available to Follicular Unit extraction hair transplant clinics. This breakthrough technology promises unprecedented innovation for the future of FUE surgery, by expanding the scope of what can be achieved for patient results, including typical to challenging cases and enabling successful hair transplants for patients of African descent.

The astoundingly astute engineering of UGraft FUE hair transplant extraction devices aims first and foremost on the principle of versatility. This instrumentation offers an easy and fast surgical tool that enables doctors to extract all types of hair follicles including head hair, body hair, nape hair, beard hair and Afro-textured hair.

In describing the succession of his UGraft technology from inception to market, Dr. Umar states, "I wanted a technology that is easy to understand and use. It must be portable and very versatile. And it must have the ability to work for most people. After 10 years of research and development that culminated in several peer reviewed publications, it is now ready for prime time." The UGraft Revolution has been in development for over a decade and was first reported in Dermatology Times.

In addition to his current UGraft devices, the Dr.UPunch Rotor (TM) and the Dr.UPunch Curl (TM), Dr. Umar will be presenting on a new FUE frontier, the advent of Ultrasonic FUE, a disruptive FUE technology that he developed which promises a whole new way of transplanting hair by using ultrasonic waves to aid in the removal of hair follicles. Due to work and social reasons, many patients do not want to shave their heads for a hair transplant procedure. Ultrasonic FUE helps to meet this demand, in addition to an easier learning curve for the physician as well as ergonomic benefits that would make FUE an easier and less tasking procedure.

The immensely smart capabilities offered by UGraft technology is made possible by a core set of key features, each of which has received their own individual patent.

    1. A rotary punch component that features a flared cutting edge that creates
a cutting axis diverted away from the follicle to minimize damage. Dr
Umar dubbed this a hybrid punch because unlike prior FUE punches which
are either sharp or dull at the cutting end, the Hybrid Punch (UPunch
Rotor) presents a non-threatening dull curved surface to the graft while
the sharp cutting edge cuts the tissue surrounding the follicle. This
singular invention by Dr.U promises to be the future for all rotary
       punches.
    2. A patented textured feature that endows the punch with the unique
intelligence to pull and trace the hair path deep in the skin.
    3. A fluid deposit feature which eliminates the threat of graft dehydration
during FUE hair transplantation. Dr. UGraft is the only technology that
offers a system which prevents follicles from drying out during the
       extraction process.
    4. A non-rotary punch system capable of successfully extracting hairs from
all Afro-textured hair individuals. While regular FUE procedures offer a
dismal 30-40% success rate for black patients, a September 2016 study
published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Online documented a 100%
success rate in patients with afro-textured hair treated with this
non-rotary punch. FUE performed on this type of hair is perhaps the last
frontier in this arena of hair transplant challenges, which the UGraft
       system has solved most resoundingly.

The 2017 ISHRS Live Procedure Workshop continues the mission of the International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery to "achieve excellence in medical and surgical outcomes by promoting member education, international collegiality, research, ethics, and public awareness", according to their official website. As an international, non-profit medical organization with more than 1,200 members in 70 countries, the ISHRS is dedicated to providing "medical education to physicians specializing in hair transplant surgery and is committed to delivering the latest information on medical and surgical treatments to consumers suffering from hair loss."

The workshop hosted by Dr. Umar will address exciting new frontiers of FUE transplant surgeries. Invited lecturers include internationally renowned hair transplant surgeons regarded as leaders in their chosen areas of FUE expertise. These speakers will be giving presentations on various advancements in follicular unit extraction practices and technology.

Dr. U Devices Inc which owns the UGraft brand will have a booth in the workshop where the devices will be available to hair transplant clinics.

Dr. Umar who chairs the workshop will be sharing ideas and novel FUE concepts with colleagues.
