Downtown Memphis To Host The Boat Show That Rocks In 2018

MEMPHIS, Tenn., Oct. 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Memphis Boat Expo, presented by Cobalt, Mastercraft, Southaven RV & Marine, and Boat Warehouse will dock inside the Memphis Cook Convention Center in Downtown Memphis, January 12 through January 14, 2018. Produced by TURNBOW, INC., the Expo is on track to feature the largest display of boats, watercraft, and performances ever displayed in the Mid-South. The first annual event will cover the entire main hall of Cook Convention Center and is appropriately tabbed - The Boat Show That Rocks!

Visitors are expected from Tennessee, Mississippi, Missouri, Alabama, and Arkansas. Products being exhibited include boats of all kinds and sizes, jet skis, personal watercraft, paddle sports, kayaks, marinas, motors, slip rentals, servicing, insurance, trailers, resorts, real estate, attire, nautical home décor, decking, dock building, winter storage, and financing.

According to the 2016 Recreational Boating Statistical Abstract, unit sales of new powerboats increased six percent in 2016, and are expected to increase an additional six percent in 2017 - a trajectory NMMA anticipates to continue through 2018.

"Economic factors, including an improving housing market, higher employment, strong consumer confidence, and growing disposable income, are creating a golden age for the country's recreational boating industry," notes Thom Dammrich, president of NMMA. "Summer is a busy selling season for our industry, and we expect steady growth to continue across most boat categories through 2017--and into 2018--to keep up with the acceleration in demand for new boats."

"The recent revitalization of the Pyramid and Bass Pro area, Cook Convention Center, and The Pinch area, along with these events, are contributing to a new surge in consumers pouring into Downtown Memphis. We are very excited to see these events," adds Kevin Kane, Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau.

"We plan to raise the bar for boat shows and expos. This Downtown boat expo is focused on giving visitors much more of what they expect. We will show more related products and services. We want to pack the Cook Convention Center with boats, featuring the best prices and incentives to buy. Our January date allows us to premier the very latest and greatest in the entire boating industry. Aside from having the best selection of boats, look for a totally new expo experience. New innovative ideas and experiences will ensure that Memphis has the Boat Expo that Rocks," says expo producer and marketer Jeff Turnbow.

The Memphis Boat Expo will be open Friday, January 12 through Sunday, January 14. Each Day will include a theme focus. Friday is the VIP Preview Party, presented by Sugar Loaf Marine Sales, and features a very special performance to be announced at a later date. Saturday is themed "The Boat Show That Rocks" and will feature a concert from Journey former lead singer Steve Augeri. Sunday's theme is all about Faith, Family, and Freedom. Sunday's event will include a talk by Chad Williams, author of Seal of God, and Navy Seal.
