#GivingTuesday Marks Charity Navigator Expansion

GLEN ROCK, N.J., Nov. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Charity Navigator, the country's leading online charity evaluation service, today announced that beginning tomorrow, #GivingTuesday, it will make concise impact statements and progress reports for 2,400 charities available for free of charge on its website.

In addition to accessing financial analysis developed from each organization's 990 filings with the Internal Revenue Service, site visitors will be able to review impact reports prepared by charities and supplied by GuideStar, Classy, and GlobalGiving.

This marks the first joint effort by these sector leaders and is the first of a number of planned collaborative initiatives.

"Publishing impact reports of nonprofits is a radical expansion of the information previously shared by Charity Navigator and frequently requested by donors," said Charity Navigator CEO Michael Thatcher. "We are delighted to be working with GuideStar, GlobalGiving, and Classy to encourage thousands of organizations to provide their results information alongside our latest charity evaluations."

During this experimental phase, progress reports shared by Charity Navigator will not have any effect on the star or numerical rating nonprofits receive from Charity Navigator.

"GuideStar is excited to partner with Charity Navigator to share our quantitative and qualitative data about nonprofit programs," said Jacob Harold, President and CEO of GuideStar. "We believe the inclusion of GuideStar's Gold- and Platinum-level data will enrich donors' experience on Charity Navigator--something we can all agree is a happy news for this Giving Season."

"We're thankful for this opportunity to partner with Charity Navigator to provide more impact information for donors," said Co-Founder and President of GlobalGiving, Mari Kuraishi. "At GlobalGiving our aim is to fuel and amplify the work of nonprofits that listen to the people they serve and adapt programs to meet those needs. This partnership with Charity Navigator helps highlight these organizations that are committed to greater effectiveness."

"Our mission at Classy is to mobilize and empower the world for good, and we've always felt that showcasing the impact nonprofits are making in their communities is a critical piece of empowering the sector," said Pat Walsh, Co-Founder and Chief Impact Officer at Classy. "We originally created this framework to help organizations clearly articulate their impact for the Classy Awards, and now we're excited to see it brought to life in a new way through this meaningful collaboration."

A list of all 2,400 organizations supplying their progress reports is available upon request.
