VWR, Part of Avantor, Coordinates Donation to Hillsborough County Public Schools in Support of Science Education Programs

RADNOR, Pa., Feb. 6, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- VWR, acquired by Avantor in 2017 as a wholly-owned subsidiary and leading global provider of product and service solutions to laboratory and production customers, proudly organized a product donation to Hillsborough County Public Schools in Tampa, Florida. Hillsborough County serves a large student population at over 200 schools, many of which were damaged by Hurricane Irma last year. This donation of equipment and supplies will offer much needed support for their science programs across the district.

"We are proud to support Hillsborough County Public Schools and their strong commitment to STEM education," said Mark McLoughlin, EVP, Americas for VWR, part of Avantor. "With the damages sustained by Hurricane Irma, this donation is needed now more than ever to support their students in this growing field."

"VWR and their staff have been supportive for many years," shared Dan McFarland, Supervisor of Secondary Science for Hillsborough County Public Schools. "As teaching and learning matures and as new opportunities cross our path, VWR has been extremely helpful in developing solutions for our students. As financial stewards, we are grateful for this donation that will help us offset the effects of Hurricane Irma."

As part of its Americas Sales Conference, VWR invited suppliers to attend and educate its Sales team on key product information and updates. At the conclusion of the event, VWR and a number of the participating suppliers provided products valued at more than $10,000 that will be used to restore classrooms and science laboratories damaged by the hurricane in Hillsborough County Public Schools.

A big thank you to the contributing suppliers: Grenier Bio-One, Hach, Kewaunee Scientific, Labconco, MAPA, Mettler Toledo, Micronova, Pall Laboratory, Promega, Quantabio, Simport, Supermax Healthcare, Techniglove, Thermo Analytical, Troemner, and others who preferred to remain anonymous. Together, VWR and its suppliers were able to make a generous donation of lab coats, shoe covers, latex gloves, glassware, plasticware, and many other items to support science education for these students.
