Cupid Dating App Discovers What Type of Relationship People Are Looking For After a Breakup

NEW YORK, Feb. 8, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- For those individuals that have experienced a relationship breakup and are back in the dating scene, a vast majority are looking for a long-term relationship in 2018. However, certain segments of this dating population are still a bit apprehensive.

The dating experts at Cupid.com (http://www.cupid.com) came to these conclusions after conducting a survey of members in this situation as Valentine's Day approaches.

Finding another long-term relationship was the most popular dating goal among those respondents that have been "Single for a while" (55%), Divorced (52%), Widowed (50%), Separated (46%) and "Recently experienced a breakup" (39%).

Of note, 19 percent of those who recently experienced a breakup said they are hoping to get back with their ex sometime this year, far and away the highest percentage among any of the responding groups.

Interestingly, "Dating and we'll see what happens from there" was the second most popular relationship goal among those who are Divorced (15%) and "Single for a while" (15%). This shows that after some time alone, many people just want to dip their toe in the dating waters with no expectations.

Another surprising result is that absolutely no one taking the survey in any responding category said "Given my situation, I am just looking for a 'quick fling.'"

So, when is the right time for those who experienced a breakup to start searching for a new love? Statistics show that most people who make New Year's resolutions of all types have already given up on them by the time February rolls around. But in this case, February is the most appropriate time for these people to start the quest for love again.

"While January is considered prime dating season for most singles, it can be an uncomfortable time for someone who just experienced a breakup," said a dating expert on the Cupid team. "During the holidays, they may've been badgered by well-meaning family and friends asking when they're going to get back into the dating scene. And then there's the undue pressure of being in a relationship or at least having a date for Valentine's Day. Ultimately, these people would be better served to go at their own pace."
