Inaugural "Pathways in Reproductive Medicine" educational program supports OB/GYN residents interested in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (REI)

BASKING RIDGE, N.J., Feb. 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Reproductive Medicine Associates of New Jersey (RMANJ), presents the inaugural "Pathways in Reproductive Medicine" educational program for OB/GYN residents interested in learning more about a fellowship and career in reproductive endocrinology and infertility (REI).

The first-of-its-kind event, sponsored in part by The Foundation for Embryonic Competence, will cover current and emerging trends in reproductive care, provide "real-world" mock interview sessions, and offer direct contact and networking with thought leaders in the field of infertility. The course curriculum will focus on understanding how clinical care, reproductive laboratory medicine, and research in reproductive science form the foundation for training in REI.

"Education and professional development is at the core of the IVI-RMA global network of IVF programs," offered Dr. Richard Scott, MD, HCLD, FACOG, and CEO of IVI-RMA Global, who also serves as program director of RMANJ's Fellowship Program. "We hope the Pathways program can provide the right information and inspiration for OB/GYN residents looking to specialize in this important area of medicine and become the leaders of tomorrow in our field."

Jason Franasiak, MD, HCLD, FACOG, Pathways conference chair and lead physician at RMANJ's new office in Marlton, New Jersey added, "There's only a handful of REI fellowship programs in the U.S. and the application process is highly competitive. Pathways aims to provide candidates with insight into the different types of REI fellowships and advice on how to align training programs with career goals in order to enter into a fellowship program that can launch a successful career in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility."

Over the three-day program, the Pathways faculty will present classes tailored to meet the clinical, scientific and practical needs of fellowship candidates:

-- Understand the past, present, and future of the field of Reproductive
        Endocrinology
-- Recognize the contemporary challenges and opportunities facing the
        reproductive specialist
-- Apply proven strategies to design innovative clinical research projects
-- Participate in a "real-world" mock fellowship interview and CV review
-- Gain a "day in the life" overview of a Reproductive Endocrinologist
-- Network with global leaders in the field of Reproductive Endocrinology

OB/GYN residents from across the country were invited to apply for a scholarship to attend the event.

RMANJ's fellowship program was established in 2010, accepting just one fellow per year. In 2017, the program expanded its class size to two fellows.

*SART 2014 Final Live Birth Per Egg Retrieval Cycle (72.4% under 35 years; N=723). This is your chance of achieving a live birth for each cycle started for an egg retrieval. This includes all transfers performed with fresh and frozen embryos derived from this cycle.

Please note a comparison of clinic success rates may not be meaningful because a patient's medical characteristics, treatment approaches and entrance criteria for assisted reproductive technology (ART) may vary from clinic to clinic. Visit www.sart.org to learn more.
