Emerson Chairman and CEO David Farr to Deliver Keynote at CERAWeek by IHS Markit 2018

New automation technologies and digital transformation strategies will continue to transform the global energy landscape, driving energy companies toward greater productivity – but the true winners will be those that leverage these innovations to transform their overall business performance and workforce. That’s the message Emerson Chairman and CEO David Farr will share today when he addresses more than 3,500 delegates on the world’s preeminent energy stage at CERAWeek 2018 by IHS Markit.

As head of Emerson, a leader in automation technology and engineering, and as board chairman of the National Association of Manufacturers, Farr has focused on helping companies navigate the “digital transformation” landscape to achieve optimal production and lower costs.

“We are facing arguably the most dynamic and transformational periods in industrial production, economic recalibration and technology innovation,” Farr said. “Companies that embrace technology while also focusing on developing the next generation digital workforce will fuel our economic growth around the globe.”

As part of the digital transformation, Emerson is also helping today’s industrial workers develop the needed skills and training to be tomorrow’s digital workers.

“Manufacturing has a deep legacy and will continue to play a critical role in the future, but the skills and knowledge required are shifting with the rise in automation,” Farr said. “The workforce powering the digital economy must be nimble and adapt to the new technologies that are powering today’s global energy industry.”

At CERAWeek in Houston, Farr will join CERAWeek Chairman Daniel Yergin and Robert Kaplan, president and CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, in a keynote discussion from 7:30 to 9 p.m. CT on March 6. The discussion, focused on what’s coming next for an industry that’s experienced a dramatic price rollercoaster in recent years, will be streamed live at the CERAWeek Digital Hub (http://ondemand.ceraweek.com), which Emerson is also sponsoring throughout the conference.

In addition to Farr’s keynote appearance, Emerson will showcase the latest in automation and digital technologies at the CERAWeek Innovation Agora, a space to show real-world and future applications from reservoir to refinery. Portraying a day in the life of a digitally transformed integrated energy company, Emerson will demonstrate how Industrial IoT and new organizational competencies are driving unprecedented performance.

Emerson will have a large presence at the event, including: Farr’s keynote and his session on “Educating Tomorrow’s Work Force”; Jamie Froedge, president of Emerson’s Process Systems and Solutions, during a panel on “Petrochemicals: Future Pillar of Growth for Hydrocarbons”; Emerson Automation Solutions Executive President Mike Train on a panel about “Outlook for Upstream Costs and Technology”; Peter Zornio, chief technology officer for Emerson, on a panel about “How will the Innovation Tsunami Change the Energy Sector?”; Arshad Matin, president of Emerson’s Exploration and Production Software business, discussing “Digitalization and Oil & Gas: What’s Next?”; Jim Nyquist, group president of Systems and Solutions for Emerson, sharing insights on “How to Restore Capital Project Investment Confidence”; Claudio Fayad, vice president of Technology for Systems and Solutions at Emerson, discussing “The Cloud vs. the Edge: The future of connectivity?”; Robert Yeager, president of Power & Water Solutions for Emerson, discussing “Building the Resilient Grid of the Future: Microgrids & Beyond”; and Steve Sonnenberg, chairman of Emerson Automation Solutions, discussing leadership development.
