Chick-fil-A "Cookies for a Cause Day" Raises More Than $5K for Miracle Flights

LAS VEGAS, March 15, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Two local Chick-fil-A restaurants together raised a total of $5,856.81 in just one day for the nation's leading medical flight charity, Miracle Flights. Held on January 30, 2018, Chick-fil-A's Cookies for a Cause Day encouraged customers to buy a cookie in support of the Las Vegas-based nonprofit organization, which provides free commercial air transportation to critically ill children in need of medical care far from home.

For one day only, all proceeds from every Chocolate Chunk Cookie sold at the Chick-fil-A Stephanie at Warm Springs and the Chick-fil-A Sahara at I-15 were donated to Miracle Flights. The cookies retail for $1.29.

Cookies for a Cause Day also coincided with Chick-fil-A's one-year anniversary in Las Vegas. The first location at Stephanie and Warm Springs opened on January 26, 2017.

"Chick-fil-A has a long history of community service, and we're proud to continue that tradition here in Las Vegas," said Dan Mullins, owner of Chick-fil-A Stephanie at Warm Springs. "Partnering with an incredible charity that's based here in Las Vegas, such as Miracle Flights, is a great way to recognize our first year here and show our continued support for this community."

Established in 1985, Miracle Flights has to date provided more than 115,000 free flights to help children with rare and life-threatening conditions gain access to specialized, distant medical care. Commercial plane tickets are provided at no cost to families and as many times as necessary.

"Generous community partners like Chick-fil-A make it possible for us to continue our mission of helping families in crisis," said Mark E. Brown, CEO of Miracle Flights. "Having Chick-fil-A choose Miracle Flights as a charity of choice for its Cookies for a Cause initiative was a tremendous honor and will help sick children here in Las Vegas and throughout the country get the quality healthcare they need, wherever it may be."
