Products and Services, Governance and Citizenship Top Drivers for Bayer in 2018

WHIPPANY, N.J., March 19, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Reputation Institute (RI), the world's leading provider of reputation measurement and management services, has announced the company's annual Global RepTrak® 100 rankings.

Bayer made the list of the 100 companies globally with the best reputations, ranking 86(th) overall.

"Bayer is proud to be recognized by Reputation Institute as one of the most trusted brands in the world," said Raymond F. Kerins Jr., senior vice president of corporate affairs for Bayer. "A positive reputation is one of the most valuable intangible assets a company can possess and something that should be honored and continually cherished and invested in."

The world's largest corporate reputation study of its kind, Global RepTrak 100 (RT100) is based on more than 230,000 individual ratings collected in the first quarter of 2018. It includes comparative rankings, demographic trends, and unique insights into the dynamics behind reputational impact. The global study shows what drives trust and identifies supportive behaviors such as intent to purchase a company's products, willingness to invest in, or even work for, the company.

"Ethics, fairness and social influence are key in 2018," said Stephen Hahn-Griffiths, RI executive partner and chief research officer. "Purpose-driven companies with enhanced brand strength have a higher reputation, as evidenced by the Global RepTrak® results. Being purposeful is more important than ever."

Of the companies at the top of the rankings, BMW and Microsoft broke into the Top 10, while Intel and Rolls-Royce fell out of the top echelon.

The top 10 companies in RI's 2018 Global RepTrak® 100 are:

    1. Rolex
    2. LEGO Group
    3. Google
    4. Canon
    5. The Walt Disney Company
    6. Sony

However, only three U.S. companies made the Top 10 in 2018 and 71 percent of U.S. companies dropped in rankings. Companies from Japan and Germany ranked second and third in the world in terms of rankings overall (after the U.S.).

CEO activism is a significant trend in corporate reputations in 2018. "In the new era of CEO activism, a new kind of leader emerges: a CEO who thinks beyond profit and aligns leadership with societal contributions and highly ethical behavior," Hahn-Griffiths explained. "Leadership is increasingly aligned with ethical behavior and societal contribution.
