Saudi Arabia's eSport Federation and Global eSport Resources announce agreement to develop the Kingdom's eSport industry

Definitive agreement covers all international partnerships, sponsorships, tournaments, content and media

LOS ANGELES, March 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The Saudi Arabian Federation for Electronic and Intellectual Sports (SAFEIS) and Global eSport Resources (GER) today announced their partnership agreement signed February 1, 2018. The exclusive agreement calls for GER, a global eSport strategy, planning and execution company, to launch and develop, on behalf of and in conjunction with the Saudi Federation, a domestic and international Saudi eSport Industry.

Headed by HRH Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Sultan Al Saud as President, the Saudi Arabian Federation of Electronic and Intellectual Sports (SAFEIS), is creating a world class, first of its kind, public/private eSports federation, culture and infrastructure.

"We envision our eSports industry encouraging the youth of the Kingdom through entertainment and competition to acquire the new skills needed for the 21st Century. It is the perfect vehicle for empowering women as they compete as equals within the eSport world. We are excited to partner with GER to develop this industry. We welcome their expertise and their significant investment in Saudi Arabia and the future of this sector. By attracting foreign investment, creating jobs and non-oil revenues eSports fulfills the Crown Prince's 2030 vision for the future of the Kingdom," said Federation President HRH Prince Faisal Bin Bandar Bin Sultan Al Saud.

The agreement calls for the development of ongoing local competitions, integrate possible eSport international franchises, develop a Saudi national team, conduct a FIFA tournament in April, and create a marquee Saudi international tournament in late 2018 with a multi-million dollar prize pool hosted by the Saudi National Team and broadcast live to a worldwide audience. In addition, the Kingdom plans to build eSport facilities to include Federation Headquarters, a world class eSport Arena with broadcast facilities and a state of the art training facility for the mental and physical training of eSport athletes.

Tom Smith, GER's Managing Director, added "Working with a visionary like Prince Faisal and his team to make their dream of eSports as an instrument of social and cultural change makes this project extraordinary. Beyond the economic opportunities that developing a Saudi eSports industry represents, and they are significant, we are committed through our investment to being an equity partner in achieving the goals of the Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 plan. Participating in the Crown Prince's vision for the future of Saudi Arabia is a historic opportunity and we are very proud and excited to help make this vision a reality."
