Leading autonomous vehicle software developer receives top recognition as an innovator in transportation

BOSTON, April 10, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- nuTonomy, the leading developer of state-of-the-art software for driverless cars, announced today it has been named a finalist for Fast Company's 2018 World Changing Ideas Awards. In its annual list recognizing companies, policies, projects, and concepts that offer innovative solutions to issues facing humanity, Fast Company recognized nuTonomy as a prominent innovator in transportation.

nuTonomy, acquired by Aptiv in November 2017, is the first to have successfully provided rides to passengers in fully autonomous vehicles on public roads. The company achieved the world's first integration of self-driving cars into a ride hailing service in Singapore in 2016. It quickly followed this achievement by being the first to test self-driving vehicles on public roads in Boston, demonstrating that its technology can scale globally. Today, nuTonomy continues to deploy autonomous vehicles on two continents.

"It's an honor to have our achievements recognized by Fast Company," said Karl Iagnemma, President of nuTonomy. "As the global transportation ecosystem evolves to meet modern needs, nuTonomy will power the shift to fully autonomous mobility-on-demand across the globe. Our team of engineers and scientists remain steadfast in our mission to radically improve the safety, efficiency, and accessibility of transportation in cities worldwide."

Now in its second year, the finalists for the World Changing Ideas Awards were selected from a pool of more than 1,300 entries in 12 categories, from Food to Energy to Developing World Technology.

nuTonomy will be highlighted alongside other award finalists in the May issue of the print magazine, which hits newsstands on April 17th.
