Girls in Tech Names Cisco's Susie Wee to Board of Directors
Dr. Susie Wee represents the non-profit organization's focus on technical innovators
SAN FRANCISCO, May 8, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- Girls in Tech, a non-profit organization focused on the empowerment, entrepreneurship, engagement, and education of women in technology, today announced the appointment of Dr. Susie Wee, VP and CTO of Cisco's developer program, DevNet, to the organization's Board of Directors. Susie is the 15th board member, completing Girls in Tech's Board of Directors and adding an influential voice in the developer community. As the co-founder and lead of Cisco® DevNet, Susie has played an influential role in opening new doors for women in tech, specifically within innovation and the developer community.

Over the past ten years, Girls in Tech has provided programs to instruct and inspire women in STEM careers. The organization has held boot camps, hackathons, entrepreneur pitch nights, mentorship, classrooms and more. Through these programs, Girls in Tech has impacted over 100,000 girls in over 60 local chapters across the globe. With Susie's appointment, the organization aims to continue reaching new heights with increased international expansion and new programs.
The Girls in Tech Board of Directors consists of members with diverse expertise from functions including engineering, product, design, marketing, science and venture capital, and they help Girls in Tech with governance, fundraising, strategy and branding. Susie will join the strategy committee to provide the board with her expertise in technology innovation, growing developer ecosystems, and executing corporate business initiatives. As the lead of a 450,000 developer strong network, Susie has valuable experience building a global network through outreach and education.
