EAH Housing and Everyday Energy Partnership Results in a Multimillion Dollar Solar Donation

Today, EAH Housing announced a multimillion in-kind donation of solar photovoltaic (PV) from Everyday Energy. The two companies have been working together since 2010, creating one of the largest and oldest affordable housing solar partnerships in California. The partnership provides PV solar panels for electrical power development and production to 16 affordable housing properties. The donations bring the total direct financial benefits to EAH Housing and its residents to more than $7.5 million in property and resident electricity savings.

Everyday Energy has donated the PV systems back to EAH Housing, enabling EAH and its residents to benefit from existing service agreements, ensuring that solar would provide lasting value for everyone involved.

“The longstanding relationship built on trust and performance has made it easy for Everyday Energy to donate the solar assets to EAH Housing, because we know that EAH is using its resources to fulfill its mission of providing quality affordable housing and resident services to the people who need it,” said Scott Sarem, chief executive officer and co-founder of Everyday Energy. “Our efforts are significantly furthered by the public policies of the state of California around greenhouse gas reduction and combating climate change, while also providing good local jobs in clean energy. This kind of win-win situation has helped Everyday Energy grow to the point where we are able to give back to the community by donating these solar PV systems to EAH Housing.”

The solar installations span 1,778 units and approximately 3,050 residents. For many residents, the money that would have been spent on electric bills can be directed towards other necessities, such as food, healthcare and transportation costs, among other things. The PV solar panel system helps power the properties’ outdoor lighting, community rooms and common areas, which reduces utility expenses and frees up more money for amenities and programs to serve the residents.
