Molex Celebrates Fourth Year as an Official Sponsor of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon

Molex, a Koch company and leading global manufacturer of electronic solutions, announces its fourth year as an Official Sponsor of the 2018 Bank of America Chicago Marathon. Once again, Molex welcomes Koch Industries and its other subsidiaries to participate in the marathon as part of Team Molex. The 41st Bank of America Chicago Marathon, part of the Abbott World Marathon Majors (AWMM) race series, will be held Sunday, Oct. 7. The annual event makes a significant economic impact on the host city of Chicago and assists in raising millions of dollars for a variety of charitable organizations.

“We are honored to be an Official Sponsor of the Bank of America Chicago Marathon for the fourth consecutive year," said Martin Slark, CEO of Molex and board member of Koch Industries. "The spirit of this Chicagoland tradition exemplifies our shared dedication to supporting charitable initiatives and building healthy communities. Team Molex and our colleagues from other innovative Koch companies bring an unbridled energy to the pursuit of excellence and the encouragement of others to achieve their goals."

Molex will once again sponsor a Team Molex charitable giving program offering employees an opportunity to raise funds for their favorite charity. Runners are encouraged to select a charity of their choice to sponsor. Once selected, anyone can contribute to the charity on behalf of the runner through the online fundraising site, CrowdRise. Last year’s efforts raised more than $100,000 for 20 charities. This year, donations can be made through CrowdRise at https://www.crowdrise.com/Molex2018.

Team Molex expects more than 400 runners from across the globe for this year’s race and plans to bring more than 150 employee volunteers. Last year, Molex sponsored over 300 Team Molex runners and 150 employee volunteers to staff the aid station and information booths.

Molex will also greet race fans at the Abbott Health & Fitness Expo, at McCormick Place Convention Center on Friday, Oct. 5, and Saturday, Oct. 6. The booth will again include a popular interactive running experience created by Molex, which last year gave more than 3,000 visitors the chance to virtually run through the beautiful streets of Chicago.

“Based on the achievements of the past three years, I anticipate that Molex’s continued involvement will help to make our 41st marathon another success,” said Carey Pinkowski, Bank of America Chicago Marathon executive race director. “Their dedication to pushing forward as a team and a health conscious company culture demonstrates the philosophy and impact behind the race. Through personal determination and collective accomplishment, we all move forward together.”
