The value of the SFA DCB market has increased rapidly since launching in late-2014. However, the market is expected to contract in 2018, following the expiration of the transitional pass-through payment (TPT) on December 31, 2017.

As of January 1st 2018, the cost of DCBs has been packaged into payments for associated procedures. As a result, plain-old balloon angioplasty (POBA) and DCB procedures are reimbursed at the same rate.

The lack of reimbursement will price some accounts out of the DCB market, limiting access to DCB technology and causing DCB unit sales to decline.\
