VinciWorks' #MeToo-inspired sexual harassment course shortlisted for Learning Technology Award

LONDON, Sept. 17, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- VinciWorks' new #MeToo-inspired sexual harassment training solution, MyStory: Harassment and Bullying at Work, has been shortlisted for "Best use of mobile learning" at the prestigious Learning Technologies Awards 2018.

MyStory directly applies the powerful lessons of the recent global outcry against sexual harassment to the workplace through innovative storytelling and a mobile-first design. Soon to be available to download on app stores for free, the course changes the paradigm of previously ineffective, legalistic harassment training by bringing real stories of harassment to life. The course connects users to a global movement and provides everyone with a safe platform to raise their voice against bullying and harassment at work.

VinciWorks, a small business that has punched far above its weight in the compliance arena for many years, has been shortlisted in the mobile learning category alongside major international brands including RBS, Air France, L'Oréal and Volvo. Finalists were selected by an independent judging panel of experts organised by the eLearning Network. The winners will be announced at a gala evening on 21 November at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel in London, UK.

Ruth Cohen, part of the team at VinciWorks who designed the online harassment training,
MyStory, said:
"In MyStory, we took an entirely new approach to sexual harassment training. Not just through an innovative, user-designed mobile experience, but because speaking out against harassment is one of the best ways we can change toxic workplace cultures. We wanted to create a direct experience between the user and the content, which is why we created MyStory to be used on a phone, with headphones in. Using MyStory in a personal space; on public transport, in the kitchen or break room, or even at your desk, enables the space for private, quiet reflection that this kind of topic calls for, and can help light the spark of courage required to speak out."

The training is based on decades of research which has shown the most effective kind of training for sexual harassment is microlearning; short bursts of content where the learners are in control of what they experience and when. In this context, testimonials and stories of people who have experienced harassment clearly demonstrate what is unacceptable whilst not patronising those who have experienced such behaviour.

Howard Finger, CEO of VinciWorks, said:
"Effective sexual harassment training should also tackle the broader issue of employee harassment, bullying and other abusive behaviour, while seeking to counter the immense isolation many people who have been treated badly often feel. MyStory does not exist in a vacuum. It understands the crucial issue that harassment has most likely already occurred in a workplace, and is probably still occuring. Feedback from our users showed that they loved the storytelling focus. They connected with the people, the faces and the voices. They recognised themselves in the stories that were being told, and they felt empowered to bring #MeToo into their workplace."

MyStory: Harassment and Bullying at Work is available in both UK and US versions. The US version complies with the New York State and New York City harassment training requirements as mandated by recent legislation. The training can be customised to include internal policies and procedures and a direct link to in-house or template harassment reporting portals.
