AM General Receives Order for 740 New HMMWVS to Support the United States Army’s Modernization Efforts

Global vehicle solutions provider, AM General, has received an order to provide 740 new M1152A1 High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) to the U.S. Army National Guard as a part of their modernization initiatives valued at $89 million. Additionally, the company was recently awarded a 5-year contract for Systems Technical Support services for the family of High Mobility Multipurpose Wheeled Vehicles (HMMWV) with a value of approximately $121 million. The STS services contract will support government task orders for engineering, logistics, and quality assurance projects among other orders.

“At AM General, we pride ourselves in our ability to meet our customer’s needs, which is why we are able to provide the U.S. Army with new, updated light tactical vehicles as well as support them by continuously improving the existing fleet and developing new technologies for the platform,” said Chris Vanslager, Executive Vice President, U.S. Defense. “Our M1152A1 HMMWVs provide the U.S. army with a robust and modern vehicle platform capable of performing in the toughest conditions anywhere in the world. The recent STS services contract award also provides us the opportunity to improve our product while closely working alongside our government partners to support the HMMWV.”

The M1152A1 is the single cab with open cargo area HMMWV variant that is enhanced with Integrated Armor Protection and can serve as a troop or cargo transport vehicle. Delivery of the new M1152A1 HMMWVs will begin in the second quarter of 2019.

Through the STS services contract, the company will provide support to the U.S. Army by developing and/or integrating new capabilities into the existing HMMWV fleet. These efforts include integrating command, control and communications subsystems to support units such as Infantry Brigade Combat Teams (IBCT) and Security Force Assistance Brigades (SFAB).  AM General will also deliver logistics support documentation, such as provisioning, logistic support analysis, safety critical engineering analysis and all necessary technical manuals to increase unit readiness.
