CITGO Continues Tradition Awarding Scholarships to Employees' Children

SULPHUR, La., Oct. 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- The CITGO Lake Charles Refinery continues a 31-year tradition by awarding scholarships to deserving high school graduates who are children of CITGO employees.

This year, four 2018 high school graduates were selected through an application process based on CITGO scholastic criteria. Scholarship recipients include: Timothy Curol of St. Louis Catholic High School, son of B-Reformer Operator Bryan Curol; Shekinah Jordan of Westlake High School, daughter of Powerhouse Operator Edward Jordan; Noah LeJeune of St. Louis Catholic High School, son of A/B-Topper Console Operator James "Tim" LeJeune and Richard Robicheaux of Jennings High School, son of Maintenance Machinist Cedric Robicheaux.

Jerry Dunn, CITGO Vice President and General Manager Lake Charles Refinery said these students have gone above and beyond what is required to be successful in their high school careers. "From participating in extracurricular activities, to maintaining spectacular grade point averages, CITGO is proud to help fuel these bright students' higher education."

The CITGO scholarships are another way CITGO supports local education at all levels. Since 1988, CITGO has participated in the Calcasieu Parish School Board's Partners in Education program with four schools including Sulphur High School, Sulphur High 9(th) Grade Campus, E.K. Key Elementary School and the Calcasieu Parish Alternative Site. CITGO is also a strong supporter of McNeese State University and SOWELA Technical Community College.
