Nightingale College Raises Over $1,500 for Breast Cancer Research

SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Nightingale College raised over $1500 for breast cancer research, which will be donated to the American Cancer Society.

Nightingale College's President and CEO, Mikhail Shneyder, said, "Striving to improve health for all is at the core of Nightingale College's vision and mission, which are continually translated into everything we do. Every October, we are proud to collaborate in the fight against breast cancer. Together, humanity will prevail against this horrible disease and Nightingale College is committed to lead the charge in the diverse communities we serve!"

The Breast Cancer Awareness campaign, which launched at the beginning of October and was led by Brooke Facer, Nightingale College's Assistant Manager, Marketing, raised funds by going "PINK" for the entire month. The campaign consisted of requesting direct donations to the American Cancer Society's research fund and designing an exclusive t-shirt that was open to the public to purchase.

"Nightingale's culture is about evolving into your best self and serving others, and I am my best self when I am helping others," said Facer. "Breast Cancer is very personal cause for me, as I think it is for many of us. I am thrilled I had the opportunity to lead out on such an amazing initiative that definitely brings not just collaborators of the College, but learners, family and friends closer to our value of Beyond Self."

Additionally, many collaborators donated part--while some donated all--of their earnings from the yearly employee profit sharing plan.

The culmination of the campaign was walking at the Making Strides event held in downtown Salt Lake City on October 20, 2018. Although Nightingale College is a hybrid-virtual program with learners and collaborators all over the western United States, learners, employees, family and friends participated in the walk donning the "Nightingale for the Cure" t-shirt.

Kelcie Hall, a collaborator at Nightingale who participated in the walk said, "It was awesome to do the breast cancer walk with a my Nightingale family. The support offered to the survivors was an amazing opportunity. To be part of thousands of people in support of a cure for breast cancer gives hope and renews my faith in the goodness of this world we all share."
