InventHelp Inventor Develops Electrical Socket with Built-in Safety Feature (SDB-1187)

PITTSBURGH, Oct. 30, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --Two inventors from Encinitas, Calif., recognized the danger of electric shock associated with any electric cord plugged into a standard outlet. This prompted them to redesign the fixture to eliminate this safety hazard.

They developed SHOCK PROOF ELECTRICAL OUTLET to protect users against electric shock from energized plug blades. As such, it prevents injuries associated with inserting foreign objects into electrical outlets, promoting a safer environment, particularly for children. At the same time, it prevents a plug from accidentally being pulled from a socket during use and eliminates the risk of electric shock from worn or sagging plugs. This modified fixture is also durable, practical and easy to install and use. In addition, it is convenient, effective and affordably priced.

The personal and professional experience of one of the inventors inspired the idea. "As a new father of a 2-year-old toddler, I witnessed the dangers of conventional outlets by seeing my son get shocked firsthand. I was concerned about the exposure to electric shock due to the design of conventional outlets and wanted a safer alternative to reduce the risk. Being an electrician, I set out to redesign a safer product that could ensure a safe household, business or workplace."

The original design was submitted to the San Diego office of InventHelp. It is currently available for licensing or sale to manufacturers or marketers.
