Innovative North Texas TEXpress Lane Operator Embraces Renewable Energy
DALLAS, Nov. 13, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- LBJ Infrastructure Group (LBJIG) and NTE Mobility Partners (NTEMP) have created some of the most sophisticated traffic tollways in the United States, including nearly $7 billion in three North Texas projects: the 13 mile LBJ Express, 13 mile North Tarrant Express and the 10 mile I-35W. Now their parent company Cintra, a global leader in P3 infrastructure development, is taking another innovative step to power its North Texas headquarters by installing renewable solar energy, simultaneously reducing carbon emissions and slashing electricity costs.
The new 200kW DCp system, designed, engineered and installed by Dallas-based Sunfinity Renewable Energy, takes advantage of federal tax credits and rebates to greatly reduce the total overall cost of the system. Clean solar power will meet as much as 30% of the power needs of the corporate headquarters, resulting in significant carbon savings (equivalent to eliminating over 16 million automobile miles or more than seven million pounds of burned coal.) Cost savings on electricity are projected to be more than nine times the net cost of the project. The system is comprised of 588 premium panels spread across four buildings at their LBJ Freeway campus in Farmers Branch, where more than 100 people are employed.

According to John B. Commercial solar projects, which include operations such as businesses, non-profits, government buildings and schools, will be eligible for the full 30% Solar Investment Tax Credit if the projects are under construction by December 2019. The credit falls to 26% for projects starting construction in 2020 and 22% for projects starting construction in 2021.
