Las Vegas Plumbing Company Offers Five Tips to Conserve Water Over the Holidays

LAS VEGAS, Nov. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Eternal Plumbing Solutions, a leading plumbing and drain services company maintaining an A rating with the Better Business Bureau, is offering water conservation tips to Las Vegas and Henderson homeowners expecting an influx of visitors over the holiday seasons.

"In Las Vegas, we all have a responsibility to practice sensible water consumption," said Kyle Lessard, owner of Eternal Plumbing Solutions. "With more guests, cooking and cleaning expected in many homes over the holiday season, water conservation can become an issue. Fortunately, there are simple adjustments we can all make to reduce our impact on the water supply."

The Eternal Plumbing Solutions team recommends taking the following steps to reduce water consumption over the holidays:

    1. Use the refrigerator to thaw food. Although preparing a bowl or sink of
warm water may thaw food out a little faster, it is wasteful and not
always the safest option. Plan ahead and relocate frozen food to the
refrigerator to thaw it out slowly and keep the food at safe
       temperatures.
    2. Check bathroom fixtures and toilet flappers. Toilets are already
responsible for more than 26 percent of the water used inside the home,
and they will incur even heavier use with the arrival of guests. To check
for a leak, place one drop of food coloring in the tank. If the color
disappears after ten minutes, a leak is very likely. Faulty flappers can
account for up to 200 gallons of waste an hour, so resolve any issues
       before guests arrive.
    3. Only run a full dishwasher. Handwashing dishes with the tap running is
extremely wasteful, so put just enough water in the sink to scrub the
food off and then load everything safe into the dishwasher. Once the
dishwasher is full, run the cycle.
    4. Turn off the taps when brushing teeth and lathering hands. A running tap
should serve an immediate purpose. Once a toothbrush is wet, turn the
water off until it is needed. When washing hands, try to turn the flow
off while lathering. Any opportunity to turn off a flow is an opportunity
to save both water and money, and it will add up greatly with time.
    5. Consider efficiency upgrades. Take the time to run a check of all
fixtures and appliances in the home. Low-flow showerheads and faucets,
smart faucets and leak detection sensors, and efficient appliances are
all upgrades that will reduce household water consumption and grant a
respectable return on investment over time.
