Former President of IKEA and Top Investor Join BurnAlong Board

BALTIMORE, Nov. 20, 2018 /PRNewswire-PRWeb/ -- The former President of IKEA North America and Global Head of HR of IKEA, Pernille Spiers Lopez, and the Founding Partner, Boulder Ventures, and Chairman of Private Client Resources, Josh Fidler, have joined the Board of BurnAlong - the leading health and wellness video and social motivation platform - as part of the company's Seed Round of financing.

During her tenure as President of IKEA North America (2001-2009), Ms. Lopez led the fastest expansion ever within IKEA, from a small 'niche' retailer with 15 stores to a nationally recognized 'major player' with 38 stores. As Global HR Manager for the IKEA Group and its 135,000 employees, Ms. Lopez developed and implemented a new business focused HR Strategy empowering the organization, its leaders and co-workers to grow business and people together.

Today Ms. Lopez sits on the Boards of Meijer Corporation, ECCO USA, HomeBoy Industries, and Save The Children U.S. and International. She is the author of "Design Your Life: Former IKEA Executive Shares Her Tools for Personal Success."

"I am inspired by BurnAlong's commitment to creating a healthy life for the many people and not just the few. BurnAlong meets people wherever they are, and is relentless in finding accessible solutions for people who struggle," said Ms. Lopez.

"Pernille is known at IKEA and on the boards she sits for both guiding successful growth as well as building vibrant cultures; two attributes that will bring great benefits to BurnAlong as we grow across the U.S. and internationally. She's been helping to guide BurnAlong since inception, and we're now very grateful to have her join the Board," said Mike Kott, Co-Founder of BurnAlong.

Josh Fidler is the Founding Partner of Boulder Ventures, and is the Co-Chairman and COO of Chesapeake Realty Partners. He is Chairman of Private Client Resources and serves on the Boards of Johns Hopkins Medicine, AgriFiber Holdings, ClipCall, and Broadtree Residential.

"BurnAlong facilitates persistent and personalized engagement in healthy behaviors. Participants enjoy almost unlimited choice and incorporate family and friends in support of their wellness journey," said Mr. Fidler.

"Josh's expertise in both guiding companies from their early-stage through to maturity and global expansion, as well as his as his deep insights in new areas for growth and opportunity, notably in the medical area, have already served BurnAlong very well - and we're very appreciative that he's now getting more deeply involved by joining the board," said Daniel Freedman, Co-Founder of BurnAlong.
