LA Play: Venice to County Line - SJDC, Inc. Completes its New Art Installation at MediaWorks

MARINA DEL REY, Calif., Dec. 3, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Steaven Jones Development Company, Inc. announces the completion of LA PLAY: Venice to County Line, an outdoor art installation completing their new outdoor common area at MediaWorks, 12910-12950 Culver Blvd., Marina del Rey, California.

Lawry Meister, President of SJDC, Inc. said, "LA Play: Venice to County Line is an outdoor art installation depicting the visual promenade of life at the beach. Photographed by Los Angeles professional photographer John C. Lewis and curated by architect and landscape designer Victoria Pakshong, the project was conceived to bring the faces of LA onto the MediaWorks campus and celebrate the city's diversity and natural resources."

SJDC, Inc. Chairman, Steaven K. Jones, added, "As a humanist photographer, John creates artistry out of encounters, moments and scenes. He transforms and commits his images into lasting impressions of everyday life. This series of 15 photographs from Venice to County Line explores the fun and joy of being at the beach. From the famous Muscle Beach in Venice to the surfing hot spot at Ventura County Line, the images capture people enjoying diverse activities at the beach--swimming, surfing, basketball, roller skating, chasing seagulls or just relaxing in the sand. As a series, the photographs reflect the lively and eclectic character that we believe embodies our tenant base."

John specializes in fine art, social documentary and urban landscape photography. His photographs comprise a refined blend of vintage and modern technique with a polished, narrative style of story-telling. Whenever possible he seeks out assignments that can infuse his commercial photography with his fine art talent sensibility.

In Los Angeles his photographs can be seen at the Skirball Cultural Center, the Huntington Library Visitors Center and in the photography collection of the J. Paul Getty Museum and now at the Media Works campus in Marina del Rey, California.

The art installation is the final piece of a year-long improvement project at MediaWorks, which included a new color pallet, automated parking, six EV charging stations, new xeriscape landscaping and way-finding signs. A key component of the project is The Lanai: an attractive covered eating area with a food kiosk, restroom, covered lounge and a community table. MediaWorks is a 125,000 sq. ft. creative office campus strategically located on the corner of the Marina (90) Freeway and Culver Blvd.
